Ripcord's 2002 Sport Ed. Version 2.0

the new SPC stuff is pretty good, I had the first gen stuff and SPC replaced them at a discount since I had receipts. The current generation is re designed.

The newer ones have zerk fitting for greasing the ball joints. Also if you got the new ones there is no grease in them from the factory. don't ask me why.

You should be fine RIP, i have ran SPC for years now and no problems, the adjustability was my big draw too

Probably wouldn't have flopped if that VTX wheels shirt hadn't been so close ;-)

Glad more damage wasn't done to you or the truck.. I wonder if Dylan's punch the clutch trick would have worked in this situation (I know you have an auto). I remember the video of him slowly going over backwards where he just hits the clutch and rolls backward out of it like a G.

Yep, we're worried about stalling too crawling uphill slowly so we're always quick to press the clutch pedal. Sometimes the gas pedal is the wrong pedal if you know what I mean.

There's a couple cases of this. Supposedly they've redesigned since then.
Broken Light Racing UCA - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum

They've "redesigned" them into about ten various versions that are out in the wild. Constantly selling a not ready part as good to go and then adjusting the design as it fails. Using full price paying customers as thier R&D team is what they have done for at least 5 years with these arms.

Rant over. Sorry Jim, you're still the freakin man!

Strong opinions about these arms haha.

I was always disappointed with the quality of the All Pro arms. The uniball has worn out much faster than I would consider normal and the misalignment spacers never seemed to be dimensioned properly to me.

My initial impression of these SPC arms is much better than that of the All Pro arms.

You know the old saying about opinions. Here's a few shots of mine. The arms are set to E for 1 degree positive caster. That pushed my tires far enough forward to gain all the clearance I needed for 295/70r17(33.3"). I'm pretty sure you'll clear 35's if you've beat the crap or grinded the pinch welds. So in this *******s opinion thumbs up.. lol

Good to know how that position worked out for you. I was looking at the chart and some other threads trying to figure out where I wanted to try setting it first. I think I will try E first.

FWIW mine is set on D and I'm pretty happy with it. Curious to see where you end up with them!

Also, I really like that washer bracket/relocation. So nice.

You have also tubed your firewall though. I have only trimmed and hammered the area down.

FWIW, adjusting caster from the top yields opposite results from adjusting from the bottom. Meaning, 1* positive caster would move your tire BACK- if adjusted from the top. But wait, are you saying 1* TOTAL positive caster? Or +1* from the UCA itself? The appealing part of the SPC arms- to me- is the camber adjustment. We have plenty of adjustment at the lowers to get good caster, but we end up with pos camber- using the camber adjustment of the SPC, we can pull camber back to 0. To get the tire furthest away from the firewall, max caster at the lowers, and pull camber back in at the top.

One total. SPC arms are set with 2 degrees positive caster. So by going to E you loose a degree and push the wheels forward.

FWIW I'm running C (maybe B?) setting and LCA's at max caster. I rub the shit outta the front of the wheel well with no BL even after moving the battery over and BFH. Planning on adjusting the LCA back to be centered and going for B or A setting. No firewall rubbing issues after tubbing.

I started a thread (if I wasn't on my phone, I'd find it for you...) just for the SPC, settings and people's alignment sheets. Good deal of info on there but it's been awhile since it's been added to. It helped a few people out.

I also got a few little mods done recently.
-Sonoran Steel Washer fluid bottle relocation

I got the SS relocation kit several weeks ago but haven't had time to install it. Did you have your tire on when you did this install? I've removed the oem washer reservoir in the past to fix a leak but my tire was already off since I was doing maintenance stuff & had plenty of room to remove the oem reservoir. Wondering if that would be the case with the tire on & vehicle on the ground.

I've had good luck with the SPC UCA & had all my original parts since 2014. I've discussed this in other threads to share my positive experience because they do tend to catch some hate. They helped clear my 315s from the pinch weld which was my primary goal. I experimented with settings D-G & found the G setting to give me the best pinch weld clearance & 'normal' handling. I say 'normal' because my caster is ~1.7 but handling & drivability was not compromised.

I know derpiful has had great luck with the SPC upper arms. At some point I need to upgrade my uppers my factory uppers are starting to show wear and tear. SPC seems like the route I would go or TC if a deal hits me in the face. Excited to hang out in 2 weeks!!!

Is your pending install roof rack made out of 80/20?
RockyMtnPhoto and I make them, they are utilizing 80/20 as the cross bars. Check my build thread (Link in my signature) to see design/teaser shots. Assembly of the first two starts tomorrow.

Ill have some all pro arms that need a new uniball for sale soon.. haha.

Ill be back in Denver in 7 days! Super stoked for the trip!

I guess I'm gonna eat my words and end up switching all my pictures to flickr now that photobucket did what it did...

I'm curious how the SPC arms work out for you. I'd like to switch to them, but I worry about the longevity. I put a lot of miles on my truck and hate replacing parts more often that I have to.
