I think I might have seen a Camry in that color once. Never seen a single other car in that shade, much less a Taco. Going to take a lot of sorting through white and gray ones.

Stumbled upon your build thread after watching a video on youtube. Really like your 4Runner! I was debating on a 2004 or newer but I think I am strongly considering a 3rd gen now for the price.

Yeah that is definitely true, of the Tacomas currently listed for sale 2.5% are that color haha. This may take a while.

I haven't bought anything yet, but what is this about a 3-linked tacoma from the factory?

From what I recall when he bought his, most Tacoma's have a 4 Link set up for a better quality ride. But for those that needed the stiffer set up, 3 Link was an option.

exactly. i think my terminology is a bit off. my apologies.
clarified with my old man. i guess most were 5 leaf, his is the optional 4 leaf.

Most were 3 leaf and 3 clip from the factory but a massive recall was introduced a couple of years ago (E02) due to spring noise, ride quality and the fact that the leafs only had 3 clips holding them parallel (for lack of a better term) which could lead to the lower one swinging free and potentially puncturing the fuel tank or damaging a shock means that dealers are replacing the old 3 leafs with redesigned 4 leafs that also have 4 clips.
The E02 recall has been very good to parts personnel, service advisors and technicians alike.

Only thing I'm hesitant about is it has no flooring/grating to secure things to. Looks fantastic though, love the side panels. Have you ever wished to have something you could secure smaller things down to?

those 2 racks are really for different purposes. The RMR is far superior for mounting accessories like roof top tents, awnings, recovery boards, etc. But its not as good for strapping down boxes or whatever.
The Gobi is the opposite, good for strapping things down but mounting large items is not its strong point. The raised sides makes roof top tent mounting less that ideal for sure.
I did get it but forgot to reply. I'm looking for a stock truck. But its gonna be a few months before I'm ready to buy one.

I know I'm late to the thread but I just got a 4runner and I've been looking at your post for inspiration when I saw the link to this thread. That really sucks man you obviously put a lot of hard work into it. But on the other hand, him hitting you at least helped to find a murderer so at least there's a bright side.
