Road Trip To Cannon Beach, Oregon

Not sure what you are looking for, but if you stay on 101 you will pass through/by Coos Bay, Florence (huge sand dunes), Newport, Tillamook (go to the cheese factory), Sand Lake, Lincoln City, Seaside, etc.

You mean in general or for wheeling?
Maybe the dunes, but you need a flag and my wife was super nervous about everything when she was that far along...
The sea lion caves are pretty amazing just north of Florence. They have a decent aquarium in Newport and the science center nearby is awesome with hands on stuff if you have kids.

On they way, you should try and stop at Pelican Brewery, in Pacific City Or...especially if you are into beer. Even if not...it has great food and is literally on the beach.

Try Local Oceans Seafood Resturant 213 SE Bay Blvd Newport, OR. They are on the waterfront at the boat basin and buy fresh fish and crab directly off the boats. Their food is awesome. Also just north of Newport is the Devils Punchbowl. Big basin in the bluffs overlooking the ocean and water surges up in it. May even be able to see whales off the bluffs. Newport aquarium (already mentioned) is where "free willy" lived. It is great. Enjoy the trip.
If you make it up to Astoria there is the Maritime museum and Fort Clatsop where Lewis and Clark over wintered when they "discovered" Oregon territory.

Go to the Tillamook Air Museum. Tillamook has good ice cream too!
If I remember correctly, along 101 on the north end of Manzanita, there is a restaurant that serves the best crabcakes ever. Screw you Antman.
Also If you're already in Cannon Beach, drive the extra 20 minutes to Ft. Stevens and see the wreck of the Iredale. I think its also worth it to check out the jetty. It is HUGE.
Then go to Astoria and check out the Goonies house (Data's house is right across, and the school from Kindergarten Cop is down the hill.) if you look at the water from the Goonies house, you may see zillions of sea lions laying around on the docks. Then eat at the Ship Inn on 2nd St. Astoria is one of my favorite places in the US!
On the way back to Cannon Beach, visit Ecola State Park (also in the Goonies.) By then you'll be hungry again. Go to the Driftwood Lounge and see if the calamari burger with homemade oil based gorgonzola dressing is one of the specials. Its a solid piece of grilled squid the size of a hamburger, served on a kaiser roll with said dressing.
Don't stop in Seaside. Its depressing, and their aquarium is even more depressing.

Hikes in Cannon Beach Area
If you're inclined to do some hiking, a few of the best bets around the Cannon Beach area are:
At Oswald West State Park, about 10 miles south of Cannon Beach, park in one of the trailhead parking lots on 101, then hike out to Cape Falcon, going all the way north to Arch Cape if so inclined.
Or hike south, take the short spur trail to the Devil's Cauldron overlook, then cross 101 and hike up to the top of Neahkahnie Mtn. The trail up the north side of the mountain is long and easy; the trail up the south side is short and steep.
