Hey gang.

Just finished driving my new Trail Edition across the country and I got a nice rock chip on the hood. What's the best way to fix this?

(a) repaint the hood

(b) big ugly glob of touch up paint

(c) something else

Also, if you know any reputable and good places to get it repaired in Sacramento, CA area, please let me know.

Thanks.

LOL

Something tells me this trail edition won't be hittin' many trails :-)

Are you going to paint the hood everytime you get a chip?

On the serious side of things, up here in Ontario I'm pretty sure there are places that professionally fix paint chips...to the point where you barely notice them kinda thing. I have never used one but have heard of such places in the area. Sure you have something similar in your area.

Or you could just do what I do....get the touchup paint kit from Toyota, fix it to the best of your ability, and sleep well at night :-)

These professional kind of places will do a better job of getting the paint filled better and have it more level with the surface.

Good luck

Best part is you already got your first dingle so the other ones that you will for sure get down the road will be a lot easier to take

Cheers

I want to enjoy putting the trail patina on my vehicle myself. I don't want semi-trailers doing it for me.

When I crush a fender or something, at least I was having fun when I did it!

There are many kits available to repair chips. A little touchup and some wet sanding, and a buffer is all you need.

Try this link. I heard it is suppossed to be really good. Only issue: they may not have your color code yet since the 5th gen is so new.

Get Toyota touch up paint. Put a glob on your chip. Let cure for a few days then try LANGKA Paint Chip and Scratch Repair. I've used this product without fail with all my vehicles.

Once repaired I recommend clear bra paint protection to prevent future chips.

I agree -- I've been using the Toyota touch-up paint + LANGKA to fix small chips. It takes a little bit of practice, but the end result is that you'll likely forget that the chip was even there.
