Rola Rack (can it last with modifications?)

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I am considering buying a Rola rack and have read all the reviews about how they rust out. And I know that you get what you pay for.
But - if you take your time ahead of install and seal the joints, etc. can this be a serviceable rack if the money just isn't there for a Gobi? I think maybe I am trying to convince myself that I can make it work in spite of everything I read. Is there anybody that can share a success story with me about how they sealed it up and it did fine?

I purchased my Rola rack a few months ago and mine came with rubber seals that are mounted to cover up the screw holes and where the two pieces join. They realized they had an issue and they fixed it this way.

I have the Rola rack w extension, I simply just electrical taped the sections where the pieces join together for now and it works fine, no rust yet. I haven't siliconed it because I plan on getting it welded together

Some good reads in 4th gen about rolas & welding ! Have the rola on my 4th but n the desert no need ! Also the armortech mod to lower the rack will be taking it off & trying it on the 11 soon . Probably a good deal to weld them , make it true rack , one piece /!
