Went back to look this up about tranny noises & found [MENTION=34583]Ducman[/MENTION]'s posts about this ^ , been having this same noise for about 4wks & thought it was a loose skid plate apparently NOT ! SOmehave said torque converter , while I read that its the WS fluid is to thin & used the older fluid & that fixed it anyway has it ever been determined what is the problem ?

Have you tried flushing it and running a magnet through/over the old crap?

Yes had it done at dealership !

Most likely you will have to replace the converter. However you can try adding some Lucas additive. I think its called shudder fix or trans medic or something similar.

If you have access to a scan tool, monitor the TCC pid and see if it locks up at the same time as the vibration

Sounds like a TQ issue. I would make sure the fluids clean. Its difficult to "flush" these transmissions as you can only get about 3 quarts out at a time. With that being said, some of the dealers aren't really even doing fluid changes on these yet so some may not have a good since of how to really change the fluid on these. Let us know if you use the additive. Very interested to hear how that works

Well really starting to think this a torque converter issue ! Been reading all the old posts & it sure feels and sounds , feels like it . If any of the old guys still have there 4runners and replaced their TC please holler back if things have held up on this !! It's doing it now in 4th gear so that's why I'm growing a little concerned .:doh:
