Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that not all malls have good parking lots. Some of them have puddles, and the last thing I want is to hydrolock the engine, so I HAVE to get a snorkel. There's no other way.

Here is the official reply from a rep with Safari resulting from an inquiry that I submitted a few weeks ago, with the reply coming just 1 day later. I figured I would post it to attempt to rejuvenate the hopes of many of you.
As you can infer from above, there is no set timeline. However there wasn't any evidence to lead us to believe that the project would be scrapped either.

Funny, I spoke with ARB at SEMA and was told Safari was a separate company and would be best off asking them directly on the time frame. They did say the 5th gen snorkel would be finalized in about 2 weeks and then they will look in to the 4tg & 3rd gen snorkels. Yay only 10 more years till it's available for me. The Chinese Hilux snorkel is looking better and better. It's hard to wait for a nicer product that seems like it'll never come out.

I *am* that 4Runner they'll be testing the production fitting on.
When I head up to Washington you'll know. Trust me mine is starting to show some of its age. I was never supposed to be running the prototype this long.

Everyone assumes the snorkel was free for me but I've made multiple trips to Renton. By now I've paid for the snorkel in time and gas many times over.

Slight update on this, and this is not an official statement from ARB, but if you kept an eye on SEMA the Gen 3 Tacoma snorkel was finally released (ARB waits till a few containers worth land stateside, make it to their dealers, and THEN announce it so there's no "coming soon").
I can't discuss a release schedule other than say that my rapid prototype is being swapped out this week (I actually received it friday). And it's the injection molded one (3 of the bolt positions have changed thus my truck has 3 additional 'speed holes' if you will).
I'll post photos when ARB gives me the 'okay' although visually it looks exactly the same, just with the final production material.
Again, ARB doesn't have a schedule for release but they verify their molds are good, so likely you'll see this out before the end of the year, or very early soon thereafter.

Any info on the 4th gen 4runner snorkel? Development for the 4th gen snorkel was done in parallel with the 5th gen.

Lawn dart has been pretty upfront on expectations, if he says its close, I believe him.
Gotta go talk to the wife about my new snorkel now... brb. :zoom:

So while I believe all good things come to those who wait, I've BEEN priming my wife for that day when an ARB Safari snorkel shows up on the door step. Lol
I also want to give a shut out to [MENTION=124732]LawnDart[/MENTION] for persevering. I know I'm newish to the forum, and am catching up on all things 5th gen, but man I don't envy you. Its cool to be the first and be the Beta tester, but I'm sure it hasn't been easy with so many delays, so hats off to you sir.

If I have to be honest I have found this experience to be pretty trying. And not on part of ARB, they've been great. There's that other guy who had the prototype, and he basically kind of dropped off the face of the earth. But the frustrations come from ARB allowing me to run the snorkel, which was met with people complaining about how it looked, that it wasn't out yet, etc etc. when ARB and all those involved were evaluating the prototype and working to make a good product.
People don't realize I took a massive risk with running something that could break at any time. And when the product is finally out I can show you just how beat up mine has become and how puckered my rear end was over the past few weeks regarding some damage incurred. This was not a freebie, this was a prototype I worked hard to run and give feedback on.
Simply put I totally understand why testing is done internally. I'll still be a unicorn for 1-2 more months (maybe less), and soon enough having an ARB snorkel on a 5th gen won't be a big deal. I'm mainly looking forward to the drastic reduction in whining that's been attached to this snorkel. I'm very fortunate that ARB let me run it, and be very public about its use. I banged it up, and pushed it to the point it actually started breaking, something they've NEVER seen happen in one of their prototypes.
Internally there was a bit of a slow down on even seeing this released. Trust me I championed this thing being finished. I'll leave it at that.
