Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

Noticed that too ... what's up with that ???

See previous post, it's parked at an angle going up a hill, so the weight is on the left of the truck.

I'll second that! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this.

The ARMAX series of snorkels is what's going on the Gen 2 Tacoma, 5th Gen 4Runner, and soon to be Gen 3 Tacoma. From what I understand in discussing with ARB, and don't take this as gospel, is that the original snorkels were designed not to ram any more air into the intake than the original factory intake. The ARMAX is intended to be much more overtly an air ram. So you SHOULD see a little performance gain.

Now Wraith to your point at the end of the day the ECU is pretty smart, and it's not going to suddenly give you more performance than what it was safely designed to handle. Hence you can do very small gains but the envelope isn't very large.

I have to be the first one to say that frontal shot doesn't make it look as bad as the first version. The first one looked HUGE!!!

This one doesn't look too bad...


And a snorkel and a y pipe will make your 4runner better than a raptor. You can now go where a raptor cant...

I mean it's a snorkel, it's no wider then the vehicle would be if you fold your mirrors back, but once installed don't expect to ever go through the automated car wash again!

They say anything about the updated instructions for 2014+ ARB bumper? I'm hoping they redesign the foglight area to match the 3rd gen taco/Prado 150 bumper.

Instructions coming soon. I don't think the light was being redesigned but I didn't ask. They did say they are starting with the 5th gen snorkels and will then roll out snorkels for gen 4, then gen 3.

more pics please. farther away at an angle if you don't mind. So far it looks awesome, although now that [MENTION=116156]TheWraith[/MENTION] mentioned a leach that's kinda what I see. So I guess I see an awesome Leach... This would really help me get that hard to reach parking space at the mall.

One thing of note, you'll disconnect your airbox sensor for the install, and you'll have to take your front right tire off as well, it's just too tight not to remove the fender liner.

However you'll want to disconnect your battery for a few seconds, and then reconnect. Why? otherwise your car will absolutely freak out thinking that traction control and it's air sensor are disconnected. Small fix but alarms started going off about a block from ARB.

With my paint job ... can't go get automated car washes. I have to wash it myself.

And with the comment about better than a raptor... I meant; your 4runner with a snorkel will make you be able to ford water and go deep than a raptor can.

But with the ecu comment. I don't know... The ram air effect won't allow more air into the intake just adds more velocity on higher speeds. I wonder if it will trip out the ecu or not...

Stock intake. And no it won't get taller. They engineered it that height for a reason. Likely based on the airflow coming off the vehicle wouldn't be much better higher up. I'm not an engineer at SAFARI so I'm trying not to talk out of turn. But what you see on my rig will be what you'll be able to buy in 5-6 months, just injection molded rather than 3D printed. I may add a cyclonic filter to the top of this just to keep the air intake for desert use as clean as possible.

Buy me a CAI and I'd be happy to test. But I doubt it'll throw a code. Again the air intake will ONLY allow so much air in to a point.

Just to reitterate what you see is the finalized design, the finished one will just be mass produced via injection molding. They have no design changes slated post v2.0.

Looks way better than I was imagining. I always told myself that I'll never need one - until I checked my air filter last spring. It's happening.
