This thread was started in 2014 & I assumed it was out already. LOL I'll do a snorkel when I grow some balls to cut a hole on my fender.
DO IT! The big hole is easy. It's making sure the little ones are in the right spot that made me nervous.
Exactly. What makes me nervous is the holes that hold the snorkel it self. In the window pillar. Wonder if water/rain seeps into it or not. But I already have holes there for my windshield light bar lol
Use a bicycle tire tube for a thin rubber gasket. Used them many times on many projects and have never had a leak or rubbing \ damage of any kind.
Nothing like a good ole thread revival, but.....What about using the Safari Hilux 167 snorkel? It is a genuine Safari snorkel and is designed for the 3.4. If the cheapy Amazon & eBay Hilux 167 snorkels work, why wouldn't the Safari? I've asked Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and he believes he can order it but it will take some time to order them in. For reference the correct Safari part number is SS136R and here's a website for it:

Isn't Kurt down in South America or they must have just made it back...
He might still be down there, I had emailed him many months ago about this.
At those prices, I don't think they'd sell many of them for such an inexpensive (old) vehicle. Besides, as has been said, the Taco unit supposedly fits okay, and you can even buy a kit specifically for the 3rd gen here, which looks like it's the Taco unit with extra parts:should we give up on this guys?.. probably not gunna happen huh?
