On another note, I never said you couldn't get a TE in other colors I simply said that you could only get Salsa Red in a TE until late January. Hope no one is offended.

It's a long and really funny story, but one that I don't want to go into here. But it's the same and only Salsa Red TE that you saw in Searcy. It hasn't been seen in Searcy since Dec 31, 2009, at around 1:30PM when it was driven to Hot Springs where I was waiting for it. Orr has 17 dealers, and they all have to swap with each other if there is no contract for sale on the vehicle, no matter what, with another Orr dealer if that dealer has a buyer for one of their vehicles. Now it is in my garage. arty:

Hot Springs

Ha I have been in your car! How weird is that!!! Even stranger, I have lived in HS. I came really close to getting a black SR5 from the ORR down there but it had tan leather and I wanted black. Small world huh!

I really like the red color and the matte black flares are reminiscent of the older 3rd gen Runner flares.

I think the 5th gen TEs look very similar to the specifically the '99 Highlanders;It seemd the 4th gen went a very different direction in design and didn't really seem like a progression in the 4Runner lineage.

I agree. I hated the bubbly goofball look of the 4th gens. Ron, your model was the last good looking 4runner until the redesign this year (although several don't like the redesign either).

I am thrilled with the new design and think it hearkens much closer to the original looks before the weird 4th gen.

Also, Ron, what tires you running?

I won't be changing the crappers on my TE until next year (I've sadly got a lot of road traveling to do this year) but will be looking for ATs to put on next year.

265/75s Duratracs and so far so good and this winter has been a nice test of them and have performed well and I got them at Discount for $760 out the door.

Just a black rubber type side molding picked up and installed at a local custom shop. Something I do with all my rigs if they don't already come with something like that from the factory. Saves a lot of door dings in the future.

Yea, I am thinking of blacking out either the lower chrome piece of the truck, or the running boards. Having both down there is a bit much. Any opinion on which one I should remove? Also, thinking of doing something with the massive name plate on the cargo door. Already debadged it, but whats left is almost worse! Any idea of how to remove it. I think once removed, I will bring it to a custom paint shop and brainstorm as to what I want to do with it.

i don't see the "massive name plate" you mention but most of those dealer badges peel right off. maybe hit it with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive if necessary.
