Saturday 3-20 Pilot Rock or Cleghorn

Pilot Rock or maybe Cleghorn next Saturday 3-20. I was bummed that i was on duty for the Meet but will be available to go Wheeling next Saturday the 20th. I have only done Pilot Rock once but would like to do that again but can be persuaded to do Cleghorn instead if that is what majority of people want. Post up if interested with choice A or B. Here would be the proposed meeting times/ locations.

Meeting Point Chevron off Highway 138 and 15fwy @ 0930 CB Channel 31. FRS radio 14.1

Will continue to debate route. If we stick with the Pilot Rock then it is aprox.30 min to trail head where we will Airdown at intersection of 2n33 and 2n17x. If we do Cleg it is 5 min to trailhead where we will airdown.

REQUIREMENTS
Good Attitude
Snacks, food, beverages(no alchohol)
$ for a meal afterwards(preferably cash in case they wont split check)
Spare fluids for vehicle
Recovery gear if you have it.
Recovery point front and rear (factory hook is fine)
Good Attitude

:dammit: Damn cant get out of work Sat unless costumer changes schedule. I would do either on Sunday. I've been over cleghorn a few times never been over pilot rock that I know of. I'll keep an eye on here if I can get out of work on sat I will be at whichever is decided on. :hungry:

Yeah I already have plans for Sat night and all day Sunday. I am helping fix and finish someones rear bumper. Hope you can make it, if not next time. I think the only major obstacle on Pilot would be the first one for your 2wd. If people decide on Cleghorn I can do that.

I have been out there wheeling cleghorn almost every weekend. I know how chewed up it has gotten. Another reason I was thinking Pilot Rock since it goes around Silverwood Lake and is just about as close. If we get a couple 2wd then we can just stick to 2n33 (fireroad) instead of doing 2n17x the difficult bypass.

I'm down for either but can we make the time a little later than 8am? If we do Cleghorn, it takes me an hour or so to get there, so not thrilled about getting up at 6am on my day off. I'll still do it though...

I'm wondering where I should meet you guys if we do Pilot Rock because I live 10 minutes away from the rock itself, but an hour away from the trail head.

Yeah I meant for the guys with 2wd or no lift.It shouldn't be a problem for us.

I'm down to go, but I'm completely stock--no lift yet. I'm in for whichever accomodates rookies like myself. May bring a buddy with a lifted Rubicon if that's cool.

Coming from San Diego, so 10am sounds a lot better than 8am!

Ok here is the run down.

Cleghorn= easy run on main road with difficult offshoots that leave and come back to trail often so if we want to split up we join back together more often and quicker. Most offshoots are 2wd and stock friendly even with the more recent rains and errosion. I think this would be the more mixed group friendly on skill and vehicle capability.

Pilot Rock/ 2n17x= if we stick to the actual pilot rock trail 2n33 its easy but stays seperated from the more difficult 2n17x. 2n17x only has three obstacles that would be borderline for stock 4x4 and a no go for 2wd. The very first obstacle (gatekeeper of the trail) and then two other sections. If you are willing to take a strap over the couple obstacles then we can do 2n17X or split up as a group and stay in CB coms and meet back up at Pilot Rock. Once there we have another decision as a group. Stay on the trail and take it up into Arrowhead or follow around Silverwood Lake and back to HWY138.

Yes, I think the 2WDs may need the 4WD's help in one or 2 spots like you said. Shouldn't be a big deal.

2WDs: Don't be afraid you are going to come back with dents and scrapes, both of these trails are mellow, you may just need a tug here or there.
