Nice, another T4R owner from my old stomping grounds. My Uncle Red had a farm up there. Grew up in Rockland County. Miss it but not enough to move back there. Fell in love with the west coast.

This trucks been to so many Priest tailgate parties and because of the JP sticker on the window my GF & a few of my friends call it the Priest Beast!

This garage needs work. I'll need to pour a concrete floor, insulate it for winter & summer wrenching & run pluming & electric.
It would have been cheaper to build a garage on my property but I didn't want someone else buying it & building a house right next to mine.

I've been wanting to buy this property since I moved in 10 years ago but the old man wouldn't sell. Now that he's gone his 2 kids just want to get rid of it. When the family or contractors were working on it, I lent them power for nothing. I was hoping they would remember & they did. They could have sold it to a developer for a lot more than they sold it to me for. They're really nice people & they know I don't want someone building a house next to me.
PS: Now I have the room to build a new locking rear axle!

Great, you guys and your lockers. I regret not getting a rear locker from ECGS when I upgraded to the 4:88's. There's definitely a few times I could have used one. I think that's called trying to put spilt milk back in the glass
Smart call on grabbing up that property. It will only go up in value.

Yea, I would have added a locker if I was you. It's only money! LOL You still can. Same with Unner. When he puts in his 4.10 locker... a year from now he's gonna wish he went with a lower gear ratio while he had it apart. 4.30's front & rear from a yard shouldn't be that hard to find.
When I bought my S/C I was gonna just get the basic one but I knew I'd upgrade to a smaller pulley eventually. So I bought the whole High Boost kit from LCE with the S/C. It was cheaper doing it that way in the long run than adding the smaller pulley, 5th injector & fuel management later on. Probably saved around $400. I paid for it last year so when ever I get it on it will feel like a free mod! :bigok:
Yea, I could flip it & make a quick 20G's BUT, I dont want any neighbors! If I ever get into financial trouble down the road I could always sell it.
I waited 10 years for it, I'm not selling it anytime soon. (Plus we probably wont close on it for 2 months so I dont own anything yet!) Our attorneys haven't even spoken with each other. We just agreed on a price today.

No plans to regear this truck for awhile. Not while it has DD duties. Maybe eventually I'll regear, go 35's, dual lockers, but that would be a long long time from now.

Update on the truck: :lightsaber:
I haven't wheeled it all summer & have three trips planed for Oct. Now my PS rear axle seal just started a minor leak & so is my oil filter housing. No drips in the driveway, they only leak when driving. I'm pretty pissed because all 3 trips are a 3hr drive into PA.
My rear diff breather plug is a rusted blob so I'm doing the Breather extension mod & hopefully that stop the gear oil leak. I'll need to order a gasket kit for the filter housing but I dont think I'll have the time to fix it before the first trip which is Oct 8th. It looks like it's going to be hard to get out with my Headers in the way.

I did the breather extension mod to the gas filler cap - no more leaking axle seal! :reddance:
Pulled off my air intake to get to my oil filter housing. Pulled that off because it was leaking. Now I'm waiting on new gaskets & hopefully I can get it back together with out oil leaking so I can wheel it this weekend!
I also might as well install the K&N CAI I have & clean the MAF while it's all apart.

I'm picking up an entire E-Locker axle with harness from Virginia next Sat! Road Trip!
Rust free! :reddance:
The plan is to sand & rust proof the axle assembly. Drop in my current 4.56 gears. Add new drum brakes & do the bearings before putting it on the truck.

Hello all & welcome to my 4Runner's history & build thread.
I’d first like to thank everyone here for their inspiration & knowledge.
I came back to this site in March of 2014 after having my engine rebuilt to talk with other owners & had no intentions of modifying my truck to this extent. I blame [MENTION=88391]NateMob[/MENTION] & [MENTION=57546]4-Ripcord[/MENTION]. They were selling their trucks when I came back & I couldn’t stop looking at their build threads. I hope my truck grows up to be as bad-ass as theirs were some day.
You're probably thinking I'm a huge Metallica fan by the name of my truck but my friends named it that. I did like them a lot when the first 3 albums came out but it was all downhill from there. See post #2 for the story of the "Metallica Truck". I don't want to clog up the first post with too much text.
I'll post repairs, road trips, pics & mods in chronological order so hopefully it wont take me too long to get the thread current.
I am the original owner & have all of the paperwork from the sale including the window sticker. I purchased this truck from Sunrise Toyota in Oakdale, NY. Great dealership & always had a great experience when I went there. Plus I was sorta like a celebrity when I went there because the employees were like, "Hey! there's the guy who won the 4runner." I have every maintenance & repair receipt since I took possession of the vehicle. All scheduled maintenance is stamped or marked in the "Scheduled Maintenance Log". I had the truck serviced at the dealer for the first year because I purchased the "Lifetime Oil Program" for $100. It's was a great deal at the time but the dealer was a little too far from my apartment. I had to drop it off at 7am, get a co-worker to meet me there & drive me to work. Then get a ride back to pick it up after work. It was just a pain & the dealer was a zoo on the weekends.

Thanks man! Long story short. I work with this young guy who loves Dodge trucks. I've been trying to get him over to Toyota for about a year now. His 03 was rusting apart before he wrecked it & is looking for another. Last weekend he took a ride in a friends 96 4Runner & fell in love. I said I told you! It rides like a truck not your Moms SUV. Do you think I'd have this thing for 17 years if it sucked! LOL

Last Wed I closed on the property next to my house.
1/2 acre with a monster garage. My house is on the left in the pics.
Needs a ton of work before I can turn it into a full blown shop.
Dirt floor converted to concrete.
I have (2) 2 post car lifts for free. :tea:
All windows need to be replaced.
Frame the walls for sheet rock, insulation & electric.
I need to be able to work in there on very hot & very cold days. I'm sick of only being able to work on my truck on nice days.
Need electric run everywhere with 220 & 110.
I have friends who want to move in compressors, welders, presses, etc.
I wanna do sandblasting & powder coating too.
It's going to be epic when completed!
