Seafoam'd the 4Runner

Thinking about doing this tonight. If I do, I would drive it down to a dead end street with no houses to avoid smoking people out. I will do it through the two vaccuum lines [MENTION=46399]Snesley Wipes[/MENTION] showed. Has anyone had problems, such as any CEL or fouling spark plugs or messing up O2 sensors? I will most likely be changing the spark plugs next Sunday so I want to make sure nothing is messed up during the week before that.

Cool! Make sure you do NOT let the engine run when you put it in...it will burn off and it will defeat the purpose. Ideally, fill that jar with at least 1/2 can and let it suck it so the engine dies by itself.

As a lurker on this thread who has never sea foamed any vehicle I just read the first ten pages of this thread from start to finish in one setting and by pages 9 &10 I was laughing my ass off at the neighbors getting freaked by the giant plum of smoke. By far this is the funniest thread in all of T4R. I can't wait to try it on my truck...

Those pictures are great. I was thinking the yellow part comes out as well and you have to hold the hoses over the hole. This helps alot, thanks. So half the can through those vaccuum lines, the other half in the gas tank? I'm just under 3/4 tank of gas right now, that shouldn't be a problem right?

Ya, fill your jar with at least a half can. You will probably suck about 4/5 of it before the engine dies, not the full half can. Let it soak for at least 10 minutes. I like to do it twice for good measure. Don't forget to start your car before you disconnect the engine hoses, and connect the clear ones.

As far as the gas tank goes...just throw a full can in there at some point or another. It will only clean your lines and fuel injectors (which are probably clean anyway due to the detergents in most gas), so it isnt that big of a deal.

Haha yup, that is definitely my favorite part. A car started coming over to investigate as we were pulling away. They thought I was doing a burnout or that my truck was going to explode I suppose.

For those of you that have done this consecutive times, is the amount of smoke much less the second time around (while using the same amount of Seafoam)? I am wondering if the white smoke is just the Seafoam burning off.

I do believe in the stuff, no doubt. Just did this to my sister's RAV4 tonight with 147,300 miles and the results were incredible. It is so much smoother and more powerful. I think I might do the 4Runner again before I change the spark plugs (this weekend).

Sorry for reviving a dead thread but I want to try seafoaming the my 2003 toyota 4runner as its due for oil change in about 400 miles. I bought a pint of seafoam and i know to add 1/3 to gas tank and 1/3 to oil and 1/3 to (Brake booster line?) I dont know where this vacuum line is located. I found diagram online and my guess is that is the one but i want to make sure before i do anything. Can someone guide me? thanks.

I just had my first experience with it yesterday.... Smoke to be expected, then all the idiot lights came on, lack of power due to traction control and just sheer joy. I pulled the ECU after about 7 miles and it drove normally. When I got home I pulled the positive battery cable and all the lights when back off.

My only problem was that I didn't see 49 MPG average.... dropped done to 13.4! I've got some mods and maintenance to do and I'm sure it'll improve. 106K on the 4Runner now. Good input from everyone and it was easy.

Just seafoam'd my 06 for the second time. Just had my 80k service, I have 81,150 (service was done on time, just been off a little bit as I think I took it in late for 45 and 50k services due to travel).

Dealer had said they wanted to do the air/fuel induction service for about $180, so off to autozone I went.

Last time I did this, I think I had 50-60k and barely got any smoke. When I did it that time, I think I used about 1/3 of the bottle, maybe a bit less as I was nervous, being my first time. I let it sit for maybe 5-10 minutes and then started it up.

This time, I used 1/2 the bottle and let it sit for 30 minutes (leaving me enough time to walk back to my house, get my lube gun and hit the swaybar bushings, then go clean up). This time, I got white smoke for about 5 minutes, just revving it in park. Took it out for some fun on the highway and it drives very well! No lights came on, nothing.

I used the method of pouring into the vacuum line, slowly. I did not use extra tubing or let it stall out.

I also put a bottle of Gumout Regane High Mileage Fuel System Cleaner in at nearly empty and filled the tank. Taking a road trip tomorrow so I plan to use the other half of the Seafoam in the tank next time I fill up.
