Is the rear main seal a one piece or two piece seal?

A have to do a axle seal. My manuel says to remove the front diff. And if i do that i'm going to get the oil pan gasket done too. but my mech say he thinks it may be coming from the rear main. And i dont know if i wanna get in to it that far. cause if i'm doing the rear main then i should do a clutch. And really all i wanna spend my money on is a susp lift.

But i guess maintenance before modifications!

I think you have the V6 engine, if so ignore this info as it is probably not true for the V6. The 22r series uses a horsehoe shaped gasket first, then there is a seal retainer in the shape of the gasket but with a hole in the center that the seal fits into. Technically a 3 peice but you only really need to replace the seal and/or gasket in most cases. I usually get by fine on just replacing the busted seal.
