Searching for items in forum older than 1/1/2008

Can someone clue me in on how to find threads that are older than 1/1/2008 in the forum? It seems when doing searches or listing all threads it only displays threads that have had a response newer than 1/1/2008. I have been messing around with the search parameters but no luck.

There are a few older threads that I have been trying to locate but they do not show up with searches since they have not had a response in 2008.

I have a few of the older ones bookmarked and I can get to those, but if I search for the exact title of the thread and it does not have a response 1/1/08 or newer it does not show up.

For example here is the link to an older thread,

But try and search the title

Westin Safari Bar installed

It does not find it since the last response was 3/15/07. At least this is my guess as to why I am not able to search for them.

True, I have had the same problem. The only way I have been able to get the desired post is if I remember who posted in it and then search for all thier posts. Once that page is showing it's old school, just read down the list.

It should do better than that.

It truly sucks 'cause some will reply to a question with "do a search", well it doesn't search like it should.

lol, I was doing the same thing for searching for the threads, trying to figure out who may have posted in the thread, search their user name, and then weed through threads they have contributed to.

I am seeing a lot of repeat threads starting for people who are new here. Bringing up items that already have great threads on the topic but they are not able to find them using search. So a whole new thread starts with a topic already discussed. And you are correct people jump on them and say search is a great feature.

I wonder if there's a setting that GatorGreg can access to refine how the search works. I know little about the programming behind message boards. I do know there are many settings buried deeply within my MSOutlook and internet browser than can make huge differences in the output. I have to believe there's some 'master control panel' that has a setting.

The only other possibility is some 'conserve bandwidth' setting that conserves by making inquiries as quick as possible... Somebody knows but it's not me:biggrin2:
