Shift knob just friction fit?

Yeah, just hand tight and no thread lock. This is a good thing, as it allows those that don't like the hideous factory shift knobs to easily replace them with something they actually like.
If you like the factory shift knobs and want them on there good, just add some Loctite 242, screw em back on there and call it a day.

I have to ask because this drives me absolutely insane at work...
WTF is up with people turning the knobs the WRONG way!? I always get in customers cars and am like, "OMG! THIS IS NOT HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO BE AND IT FEELS WEIRD!!!" *Then tightens knob to forward facing position and has mild CDO inspired freak out moment.*

I use the TRD Tacoma shift knob.

if its any consolation, I tested the warden's V-day gift on mine before I installed it in her 12 Tacoma.
picked this color since it will a closer match to her new Tacoma when it comes out.
the momo kit has a universal adapters (make sure you dry fit everything. once you install the adapter inside the handle its a royal pita to get out if its the wrong one.
luckily the shaft is the same on the 4runner as the 12 Tacoma, pretty much all Toyotas I think.
