man, just can't seem to decide which rear shock is going to work best for about a 3" lift(891ome?). looking to do more wheelin down the roadand possibly a touch more lift and bigger tires eventually, but do mostly city driving now. Have sifted through 20 pages of threads which just gives more options and more confusion.
heard from a couple manufactures that monotube shocks are more for towing, that doesn't seem right as tons of the 5100 bilsteins are being used.
also bilstein said that the 5100 tundra shock has a pressed bushing that shouldn't be pressed out and that the valving is soft 128/76, that I should go with more like a 255/70 valving.
also heard from someone else that the tundra 5100 shock is too short at 22.4 extended and 13.84 compressed 8.56" of travel , seems like a good length considering that the ome shocks are 21.2 - 12.95 8.24" of travel. I've seen some kits using a 24.5-14.7 shock that nearly 10" of travel, that seems too big.
Guess there is no right answer. Anyone know a good answer for what is to long or to short of a shock and what is the best all around shock that gives me a bit of room to grow down the road
