Should I buy a used radiator?

The seller claims he has a 6 month old radiator in great shape with no leaks. I feel like that would be an upgrade from my stock 2001, ~150,000mi radiator. If it were OEM with receipt, and considering I'm on a budget, for 50-75 bucks, is that a good buy? Are radiators a part that one should even consider buying used? Is there a way to field-test the integrity of a used, parted out radiator? Based on my understanding of the 3rd gen. 4runners it seems like the cooling system should be given some attention at were my trucks stands in age, so...good-used radiator? save and get a new radiator? or go external trans cooler route?

Spend the $100 or so bucks and get a new radiator like a Denso. This isn't a part you replace often so you'd might as well do it right. You also have the assurance of a warranty.

If this happens to be a grocery-getting, dog house, SUV that hasn't left the county with said radiator in the 6 months it was on this guys truck before he got hit would that be a decent buy? I haven't spoken to the seller yet so I don't know who it is exactly but where I live everyone knows each other one way or another so if this turns out to be Uncle Randy's co-worker's brother-in-law's brother who isn't obviously bs'ing should I start to bargain?...it is not the primary part that I'm after more of a side-thought...

Think of a radiator as underwear and don't buy used ones!

$75 will buy you a new one and cover shipping from most online retailors.

I think you're trying way too hard to save a buck.

are these US made, Japan or china? where to buy? has anyone swapped out auto tranny rads for manual trans ones? is there a difference besides oil cooler?
 
yup no worries, we all got questions, but the radiators aren't super expensive new, so your better off brand new and knowing exactly how much mileage it goes through.
 
For a few more dollars, it's just not worth the risk of doing the job twice. Costing you more in the long run.
