This bumper offers a functional utility combined with a clean simplistic design solution. IMO, the double swing gate is more user friendly in tight quarters. Congrats it's beautiful......Nuf said

I like the brass bushing idea. I actually just used some brass bushings for a steering wheel column for my buggy.

Whats the story on those red pins? I have never seen those before. Got a link?

Here are some finished pics of the whole rig. We did the front bumper, sliders, Rear, lift, etc. Its a Man a Fre 4+ (5") lift kit. 35x12.5x17 Goodyear MTRs on Level 8 Strike six wheels.

The "red pins" are 3/4" bolts that we made to secure each end of the carriers. This is much stronger IMO than any latch system I've seen. We raised them up like that so that we could put as large of a "T" at the top as possible then painted them red so they could be easily found when removed.

Ok, now I'm no pro here, so no laughing at my pics, but we did a quick release pin, about the same size as yours.....

Upside down, but you can see the spring we put on there with the washers to keep it in place and make it a quick release:

With this setup, you wouldn't have to worry about losing the pins. You would have had to reconfigure a mounting point for the latches....but you guys could have easily figured that out!

Because the pins screw in and add another element of attachment that tightens down. A quick release pin Doesn't do that and should never be used to just hold a carrier locked in. Only to keep it from swinging.

I had the tire on my Jeep as high as I could get it without it looking re****ed and still hit it on drop offs. Since I had OBA, I'd wheel with it flat just to gain that several more inches of clearance. If I were going to run a tire carrier on my rig, I'd have the tire as high or higher than the one pictured. I personally am fully capable of using only side mirrors (didn't even have a rearview in my Jeep) so departure angle to me is much more important than what I can see from my rear view mirror. Especially when I consider that fact that 4runners have much more hanging off the ass end than a Jeep.
The plan for mine is to make a carrier that slides in the hitch receiver so that I only have to deal with it when I want to and I guarantee you won't be able to see out my rear view.

Yep this is true. My spare is about this high and I have touched it off some drops.

Kinda figured you had a reason for it! I didn't realize that the quick release was an issue for my setup.......it's actually been over a year with no issues ever.....might have to re-think that setup.....thanks for clarifying man!
