Side mirror lights! Post them here!

I was interested in getting some side mounted lights for my 4Runner. I've been looking around, and installing them seems easy enough, just need to remove the wiper blades and so on. The only trouble I am running into is finding the mounting brackets, and good looking lights.

The only mounting brackets I found so far are from CBI and are around 60$. A little on the pricy side, judging that I also need a switch, the lights themselves, and a wiring harness. I was curious for the people that do have them, what lights did you get, and where did you get the mounting brackets. I'll post some example pictures of the kinds I am looking for. Also, if this thread has already been made just link me to it.

Just installed my CBI brackets. Didnt need to remove the wipers at all. Just the 4 bolts holding the fenders (3 on top, one inside door) and trim the plastic at the 2nd ridge with a sharp razor blade. Just used some cheap amazon LED pods with amber covers.

I can grab a picture tomorrow. Pull the 4 fender bolts, then unbolt the 2 hood hinge bolts. The bracket mounts on top of the hood hinge and then they have new longer bolts that mount through the bracket and hinge.

They are called ditch lights, and are designed to- well- see in the ditch areas of roads/trails.
Something to be aware of-
If you use them for forward lighting- that they are not designed for- there is a large possibility the reflection off your hood will be horrible. Many guys have reported this.

Thats why I want it to come out more. So they aren't right over the hood. Also why I am avoiding a light bar. I get easily annoyed with small lights and reflections. Love how it looks for sure! Only problem is I am trying to do modifications that don't drill anywhere. Also, what is that wire for, thats BA!

Mine don't reflect on the hood. Mine light up the hood, but nothing reflects at me. If you want them for forward lighting get spot lights and they won't scatter light all over the hood. If you want them for ditch lighting get floodlights and aim them to the sides.

For lights or brackets? I like my CBI brackets, they get the job done. The only thing that bothers me but I think is an issue only on my truck is the driver side light vibrates at certain speeds. It doesn't make a noise or anything, but it vibrates. I took everything apart and made sure the bolts were plenty tight but it still does it...

For lights I'm using MRT lights, I don't know if they're still a thing. They were trying to get into the light business but I don't think it lasted. The lights are plenty bright but the lenses on them just started getting this micro cracking stuff all over them. It's only noticeable when you're really looking for it, but I might replace sometime.

If I were to do it again I would do a dual set up, inner light being a Rigid Hyperspot, and the outer light being a flood light of some sort for use as a ditch light and lighting up the sides of the road for deer, etc. That's the one thing I miss about my light bar was it threw light everywhere which was nice for going down windy backroads at 2 AM.

I cant think of it off the top of my head, but theres a company that makes a bracket for a dual light that attaches to a regular ditch light bracket. Im thinking of making my own down the road since Im using my brackets for spot lights forward facing. I eventually want to add actual ditch lights and aim them out and down.

Do you think that the vibration is the brackets fault? Or could it just be something that happens when driving. Things vibrate, that's for sure. I just looked at the lights, nothing too promising there. I might just have to go with those CBI brackets, I mean they are giving out a free teeshirt and free shipping

Love how those lights are mounted. Do you get crazy reflection or anything? Especially with that top one. I feel that could make it harder to see?

No reflection, partly because my hood is painted with bed liner. I get really good coverage around the front of my runner the bar above the windshield throws light around the front and the bajas throw light a little further out front for higher speeds and the rigids cover the area off my fenders which helps for cornering. I have vibration but even though the lights are vibrating I don't get vibration in the light output until about 90+mph. I'm working with a friend to create a bracket to better secure the light furthest out on my ditch brackets. When I just had the one light I didn't have any issues but now with the extended arm it's become a slight issue.

I don't think the vibration is the brackets fault. Just something that happens only on the driver side right when the wind blows over it just perfectly I guess...
