Side mirror puddle light upgrade

Change of mind and I skipped the MESO puddle light upgrade and just stayed with led bulb upgrade, was hesitant if they would make that much of a difference for $100.

The cartrimhome dynamic turnsignals came in today and just swapped them out. Youi can tell they are made for a rav4 but still went in ok. Missing a clip in point but they fit snug after all done. They are not any brighter than stock but the dynamic blinking works well.

any videos? what do you mean you can tell they are made for rav4? hows the fitment

received my cartrim turn signals yesterday. I ordered them on Thursday, and received on Saturday. The packaging was great and the lights seem to be made well. I won't be installing them until my Meso lights arrive, but I just wanted to give a +1 to cartrim on shipping time. I've never ordered anything from them and was expecting a long wait and some shit tossed in a box. I was pleasantly surprised to have these in 3 days.

Question, I have 2107 TRD Pro did not come with puddles lights. Are the wiring harness there for it if anyone knows and are there a conversion kit for mirror?

Old red just put up a group buy for the wiring harness. You gotta buy the mirrors obviously but he has the wiring ready to go. Search old reds posts and you will find it.

Also when you hit the unlock button on your remote. Puddle lights in the mirrors stay on for several seconds after the interior lights fade off.

After paying more attention to them, mine only come on when i unlock the doors with the engine running. Not with the key fob.

Hmm interesting. I have a 2017 premium and when I unlock the car (turned off) they light up. They stay lit when the door is open and if not will fade after a like a minute. When the door is open, it lights up as well whether the engine is on or off.

Wow, yours must have shipped from the US somewhere, mine shipped from China and took 3 weeks to make it through customs

My MESO puddle lights are scheduled for delivery today. Decided to skip the cartrim turn signals for now. Will try to do the install this afternoon and post pics. Pretty stoked.

can you guys tell me which LED bulbs fit in the mirror puddle light?

I've done both FyreFlyz LED bulbs

And Lasfit LED T10 bulbs, highly recommend the Lasfit bulbs, they're bright as hell

Pretty much any wedge bulb will fit

The Lasfits are REALLY bright, they're actually the same Lumen rating as these Meso pods

Might have something to do with me turning off all the carnival noises with the carista.

Puddle Light Review

I got my MESO puddle lights and installed them tonight. Here’s a few of my findings.

The Good:
1. Installation is pretty straightforward, especially if you’ve ever previously opened up the mirrors to install LEDs. If not here are some instructions, see post 20:
2014 Side Mirror Bulb Access
2. The VLED circular LED array and wiring assembly is very good quality. There’s plenty of room inside the mirror to tuck the wiring into place.
3. The light output is impressive. I’m hoping the reliability is good and they have a long life.

The Bad:
1. There are no instructions. I would expect something since this is not a universal product, it is targeted for the specific 5th Gen 4R. It can’t be that hard to put together an instruction sheet. But if you’re at all handy you will figure it out.
2. To install the LED array into the housing you will need a 5/64 hex wrench. Not a big deal, but for $100 you’d think it would be included.
3. The plastic housing of the puddle light is not an exact fit into the mirror housing. It’s a little bit larger and thicker so you really have to force it into place and bear down on the screws to get it seated. Even still it doesn’t perfectly follow the lines of the original and the curved section is slightly bowed and it sits a little higher than the surrounding plastic housing with a small gap on the curved edge.

The Ugly:
1. The plastic color is not an exact match to the Toyota black, it’s kind of a gray-black. But since it sits underneath the mirror out of sight, no big deal.
2. When you install the adapter plug into the OEM mirror light socket it’s a loose fit. Plus the electrical connections are exposed and vulnerable to moisture and corrosion. I wrapped it up with waterproof silicone tape for protection. MESO should really provide a rubber boot or something to enclose this connection. After all, the mirror is not completely water tight. Note that the original light is housed in a sealed gasketed enclosure.

Conclusion:
I like the functionality of the lights. So far they work real well and are very bright. But the form and fit into the Toyota housing is not quite up to the $100 price tag. I’m disappointed the fit isn’t perfect.
However, I’m looking forward to the MESO solution to incorporate their ditch light switch
