OP has AT tires...hello.

The stock Duelers weigh about 40lbs...if he is running 265 Destination A/T's, they shouldn't weigh much more than stock I would think.

The issue isn't so much weight as it is rolling resistance.

Just out of curiosity: are these actual calculations or are you relying on the built-in MPG to tell you those numbers?

I find that the the built-in MPG calculator is within 0.1 MPG of my manual calculation (my manual calculation being dividing miles traveled since last refuel by gallons filled at the pump on the next).

I was getting 20 mpgs every tank (reset after each fill up) for mixed driving (a
Lot around town) but since I hit 10 k miles I get 17.5 to 18 mpgs consistently. Not sure if it was the oil change, gas since December (winter grade?), or now this is just normal.....engine fully broken in.???

I have the daystar 2.5 inch lift and stock size duratracs and still can get 20 to 21 sometimes 22 mpg at the "sweet spot" of 60 to 65 mph. I had to mess around with tire pressure and have settled on 35 psi on all four corners and it seems to be the best for my mileage.

I am also in south florida so I expect it to better than folks in more hilly terrain but OP is also in S. FL so seems like his mpg is low.

I drive like a granny though...never excelerate quickly from lights and try to avoid hard breaking. I definitelt think the eco light has helped me to train myself to drive more efficiently.

Some of you take this way too seriously...

I understand how mpgs are calculated, but have been hoping for more, since my xterra with 33" ATs got better mileage at the same highway speeds.
i figure they would give me the "can not duplicate", as the seat felt tight as a drum this morning on my way there. Ill just stop by again when it's acting up.

As someone mentioned, the destinations in stock size are only margianlly heavier than the stock tires, at 41lbs.

Anyway, i was venting, and you all are crazier than i am!

Fuel Mileage

My all purpose driving comes to 20 mph. Open highway goes to about 22.5. All city driving gets me 18. My open highway driving speed around 65, as I now live in Delaware and the speed limits are much lower (55), than they were when I lived out West (70) mph. The local cops around here really enforce the limits as it is a great source of revenue, since this is a sales tax free state.

Weird...I can only get 18 if I'm driving into a very strong head wind. Normally, I average about 21 on the highway at 75 mph. I also live in south Florida so our driving conditions are exactly the same. Stupid question, but I am assuming you are resetting he MPG gauge while driving on the highway, right?

Ah, makes sense now that I googled some info on rolling resistance with A/T tires. I am thinking about upgrading to A/T's, but if I am going to lose 15% on MPG's I am seriously going to reconsider. There seems to be some conflicting information on decrease in MPG with A/T tires just from reading a couple of replies in this thread and other threads...if the approx 15% decrease experienced by the OP is standard, that seems like a significant disadvantage unless you're spending a lot of time off road. I read somewhere the Michelin LTX A/T 2's had a good rolling resistance rating for A/T tires...does anyone have any experience with these?

I heard that! I have to drive aggressively around here just so I don't get run over. Especially like on the I-635 international speedway or 35 thru Dallas about 6 or 7 o'clock when the stop and go traffic unwinds.
It's more like survival mode and good gas mileage thoughts go out the window!
