NE sliders

I was looking for a thread where I thought you had posted pivtures of the NE sliders. Did something happen to that thread?

yeah, we decided not to advertise on forums because other companies fail to respect the posts, despite the fact that we've respected theirs. so basically we have our website and our mailing list, and that's that.

Are the sliders non-painted/non-powder coated? Nice rig btw. Are they weld only? Bolt in?

Most people will probably never need sliders. That's because most people wouldn't dare put their new 30K vehicle into situations where the sliders would be of use. There are always exceptions, but you almost need to be a Moab junkie before you'll see any use.

Regarding the sliders in the linked thread above, Ken Hanna is primo stuff. He has a solid reputation throughout the industry. It definately does seem to cost more, however.

in all honesty, i cant really afford to off road too hardcore right now. if anything too expensive broke, i could never afford to fix it.

but in the mean time, im going to slowly equip my runner with a lift, big tires, sliders, etc so that when im done and i have some money set aside i can wheel as much as i want and not cry over every ding/dent, and be able to fix anything that breaks.

Has anyone seen or thought to make "stealth sliders"? What I'm thinking is keeping the stock running board or similar look on top but a beefed up structure that can take the abuse underneath. They wouldn't be tucked up and give the same clearance as true sliders but they would give better/added protection compared to stock boards. Would there be a market for this? You can keep the stock look and function for stepping into the vehicle (keeps the wife happy) but also provide protection (if I need it in mild off-roading). Just a thought for those that aren't hard core offroaders.

I looked at the nitrousenterprises.com site but didn't see any photos or description of the sliders, just the lift kit. Did I miss it?

you can make rock sliders with more cant so that the sliders are functional step bars. i think 15 degs would do it (read this on stubbswelding).

Sliders can be used as a step bar. If they can carry the weight of the car, they can carry the weight of the driver. And, if they can't, you don't want those sliders anyway. Only problem is that they would be more slippery than running boards. So coat them with textured line-x and you're all set.

BTW, if you're thinking about putting your vehicle in a situation where you might need a slider, you would do well to replace the stock skid plates as well.
