Sneak peak w/ Matte black vinyl

bump. is your truck still matte black? How does it look 2 years later? thoughts? Also, more pics!

EDIT: i want to wrap my hood in matte black. Just gathering information. Below is some info i got from Harper7 on toyota120.com about when he wrapped his hood.

Start off with some small stuff to get the hang of it. The hood is really easy to do too .The new dry install vinyls from 3M are really easy to get the hang of.They are applied with a heat gun . I used the 3M 180c v1 Black Matte on my hood but wouldn't be afraid to wrap the whole thing myself now if that's what I wanted. The key is to use the 3m primer 94 along the edges where you tuck it under.
3M has a newer V3 of the 180c that looks smoother but supposedly is harder to install according to the wrappers.

I think the guy that had his whole 5th done said he paid $2800 to have it done which is about standard.I paid $125 in material for my hood and I think it was a 5'x6' piece.

Of course there is a forum for vinyl wrapping, where all the pro wrappers hang out and where I learned alot!

Here is my hood right after I did it last year. Really cuts the glare from the sun and oncoming headlights at night. So much easier on your eyes! The only thing I don't like about it is it shows dirt alot more compared to my silver especially during this pollen season. Easy to wipe off though.

Thanks, that is sick looking.

Any idea what those cross bars on the roof are?

IIRC...I think he has since removed it...didn't hold up nicely

I could be making that up but my brain holds a lot of useless 4Runner knowledge and I want to say I remember reading somewhere that it didn't last.

don't tell us that. Well, i mean a full body wrap is nuts. I would expect it to peel off somewhat. I still want to do my hood though.

The vinyl wrap on my hood is going on 10 months or so old and I hafta say, I am dammmmmed impressed with how it has held up. I pressure wash it like normal, run my truck through bushes, and have had absolutely "0" issues at all. I am a firm believer in 3M 1080 vinyl!

As far as upkeep, like I said I wash it like normal and take no special precautions with it. Great stuff!

He did remove most of it. Still has the roof and hood wrapped. Also took the lift off too. Saw him a few months ago to give him my stock rear springs.
