Snow tire report - Firestone Winterforce UV

Just a thumbs-up for the WinterForce UV snow tires on the 4Runner. This is my 4th SUV with a set of these (previous trucks were a 1991 Range Rover, a 1993 Range Rover, and a 1998 Suburban) and as always, these tires work very well in deep snow, slushy roads, and plowed roads.
For the first couple hundred miles these tires were doing some mild droning on dry roads but that went away by the 300 mile mark.
I've been through three major snows since I put these on and even though Chicago does a very good job of clearing roads, but my commute is 60 miles across roads that are plowed by various state, county, or local agencies. They aren't all on the same schedule and it's not unheard of to go from a well-plowed and salted tollway to 3"+ of slush in a matter of minutes. I've yet to have traction control or ABS kick in when I wasn't trying to make it do so.

Just my $.02 in case anyone else is considering.

Hello, thanks for the comments. l've used the winterforce on previous 4x4's and they performed very well. I was planing to install a set of 265/70R17's on my 2016 TE. What size tires did you use, and do you know what your new wheel back spacing is? The TE wheels are kind of unique in width and back spacing, and the tire sidewall to upper link arm clearence can be an issue when installing different wheels. I tried a set of 17" OEM wheels from a 2015 Tacoma off road with 5" backspacing and the tire sidewall to upper link clearance is minimal. My TE wheels are 4.5" backspacing, which moves the wheel further outwards with improved clearance.

My Dad uses the same tires on a couple of his snow plow vehicles. I don't know much about their lifespans as those vehicles are only for plow use and sit the rest of the year. But they seem to work really well for snow and ice. He said that they were reasonably priced and work great.

265/70-17 is the size I went with. I would have preferred to go with something narrower but I stuck with the stock size.
These are the wheels I am using, backspace is 4.49".
I think the wheels & tires where cheaper back in August when I bought them.
