So I ran over a 4-5" thick trailer tire @ 70 mph today....

...and nothing happened. Well, I have a 2 inch slice in my sidewall, but it's not deep or leaking. Looks like a razor blade slice. No tire wobble, no leaks, no clunk, and alignment seems fine.

I was looking at the radio for literally 2 seconds and looked up and there it was in the road. There was noting I could do at that point to avoid it. Bang - It happened so fast I don't know if my rear tire ran over it also. I saw it kick left in my side mirror, so it didn't hit the underside of the truck at all.

Here's the crazy part - it was on a rim! I'm pretty sure it was fully inflated, thank god. The truck just kind of jumped over it. I don't think I would have fared so well if I had a Limited on those 20" rims.

My 4Runner shall now be forever referred to as The Beast.

Might want to go have a looksie under your truck my man. Could have been a Karmic type deal where you hit a rogue rim on the highway, and you now no longer have a spare under there.

Also replace that tire with the gash soon. I had similar incident where I ran over a muffler while doing 75mph and had a seemingly superficial gash in the sidewall. The tire didn't give out immediately, giving out 800 miles down the road. Apparently the curves of Indy's I-70 were too much sideload and it deflated rapidly. I'm just glad it didn't shred when it happened.
