So... the 'new to me' truck dies because...

I just bought my 02 4Runner at a shop I've trusted. It was taken on trade and I got it at a fair price. The price included the timing belt service and coating the frame. Picked it up last Weds. Drove all week and weekend but noticed dlsome belt noise in the AM. Well... today it stalled in driving in town... weird... so figured it was a fluke... then when leaving visiting some friends I lost my power steering and got a charging system bat light... then it died entirely... but still cranked?? Pushed it into a parking lot... popped the hood and found the ps belt off, alt belt super loose and a spindle looking bent... nice. It was towed to the dealer who sold it to me about a week ago. I'm guessing the mechanic didn't properly tension the belts... sweet.

Looks like the mechanic forgot to tighten the cam shaft pulley.....
The belt edges look damaged too.

Is it me or is the crankshaft pully a bit "off?"

It looks off to me... that's my concern.

looks like you might be getting a new crank pulley and maybe a crank shaft if he messed that up as well

Verdict... idler pulley screw broke. No major damage. New belts and new screw. It'd be great if they'd admit it was a mechanic error though cause those screws don't just break. Either way I think I'll get the timing belt service on our highlander done elsewhere. ;-)

Got it back all set. No major damage. Checked the work this time though...
