So who's got rattles?

My 2013 4R LTD with 51,000 miles has so many rattles it's driving me insane. It's my DD and has basically has been 99% hwy and I've only had it for about 2 1/2 yrs. Unfortunately I'm way past my warranty range so they won't take a look at it or fix it unless I'm paying for it which would be costly anyways since there are so many rattles

I just wanted to get a general consensus from others and how many rattles your 4R has. I don't know if this is an issue for everyone else or maybe I just got a bad egg. I don't want to trade it in and lose value but it seems a new rattle pops up every month and when all of them go off at the same time it drives me nuts.

1) Front driver & passenger side window rattles if I lower it about 1-2" going over bumps
2) Sunroof rattles when I tilt it upwards going over bumps
3) Front passenger chair seems like the seat frame rattles when going over bumps
4) Back seat (60%) makes a rattle if it is reclined in a certain position over bumps
5) There is something in the cargo area that makes a weird creaking/raking noise over bumps. Can't for the life of me reproduce it.
6) Steering wheel clicking when turning certain directions
7) Some sorta of rattle from passenger rear seat area

Iunno, is anyone else have as many issues as mine? Or maybe I just have a bad egg.

Did you buy new? Ever in a wreck?

My '10 with 70K amazes me ... no squeaks, no rattles, nuttin'. I'm so glad ... OP if mine was like yours I'd have to get rid of it - that stuff would make me cwazy.

6). I'm sorry, but this is funny. There are only two you know?

I have a 13 LE with 50,000 on it, about the same age as yours. The only rattle I had was a tick in the windshield the first winter out, but the following summer, sitting in the sun must have cured that as it disappeared. Every once and awhile one will pop up but it's always self induced. Something rattling in the glove box or other storage area.

My 2012 TE w/ 45k miles doesn't really have too many rattles/squeaks. Every so often if i hit a bump just right and no one is sitting in the passenger seat it rattles. That is all I have noticed.

Interesting topic , my new 16 has a rattle that just started this morning when it was cold . Passenger side dash area ? but sound travels . It's driving me nuts.

I had one there going into the winter, but it's since gone away.

I have a few, but they are expected, like the rear cargo cover thing banging around when hitting bumps.

I have some too... 2014 TEP... The sunroof one (tilted up) is a bit annoying. The rest seem to be just at the right time/right bump. I can live with that. I did have a REALLY annoying one in the dash on my 2007 SE that drove me insane. Never did figure out what the hell that one was from...

I have a 2014 model which I purchased new. The vehicle didn't make any of these noises until I started "using it" more.

Rear seats squeaked and creaked anytime when their were passengers in the back. Especially noticeable when making a turn or accelerating. Diagnosis from Toyota, plastic was rubbing dry metal. They lubed up the area and the creaking is gone. Not sure if this will just be a temporary fix. Toyota said they will replace my rear seat if it the noise comes back again.

Right side passenger front door rattles and vibrates with or without the radio on. Super annoying. Toyota pulled the door panel off and stuffed the speaker area with form tape. Went away temporarily but still comes back intermittently.

Driver side arm rest by the door handle. every time I lay or push my forearm on that piece it squeaks and creaks. I think the adhesive is coming off or the clips are loose.

Driver side window, when cranked down about 2-3 inches will rattle when going over bumps or uneven roads.

At this point I won't even bother taking it back into Toyota. As long as it runs and the 4WD system works I will be happy. Have 18k miles on my 4Runner. Realized I am driving a 4RUNNER, not a luxury SUV. It's a rugged, throw your dirty shit in it type of truck. If I spent $70k+ for an SUV then that will be another story.

My '15 trail Premium rear passenger seat headrest sounds like it has a can of marbles in it. I'm going to take it in. I think the hinge mechanism is broken or something.

No rattles in my 2012 SR5. Had it 3 and a half years and it is very solid. My icon lift used to squeak like the dickens for about a month that first summer. Then it quit and has not made a sound since. Truck drives like new. Been working on my new house a lot and hauling various construction stuff in the back, with seats down. Bags of cement, lumber. Found it will take 10 foot 2x4's with the hatch window closed. (been raining a lot) Don't need no stinking' pickup.:reddance:

My 2013 LE rattles in the front doors cause of my music. I was going to dynamat it cause its been bothering me and turning down the music is not an option but i just haven't gotten around to it.

My stock 2011 T4R also had a lot of rattles and never saw dirt. The new 2015 is very quiet so far but that may change after this coming weekends trip to the desert.

Yep brand new and no wrecks. If this was an 8 year old vehicle I wouldn't mind but the fact that it's only about 2 1/2 years old really bothers me. I don't want to trade it in for another 4R especially if that one will develop rattles too. We'll see.
