So who's got rattles?

I had one there going into the winter, but it's since gone away.

I have a few, but they are expected, like the rear cargo cover thing banging around when hitting bumps.

I've only got one weird noise and I'm pretty sure it is my front passenger door speaker. It is an odd clicking sound.. I think the stock speakers in my SR5 are junk.

I have all sorts of noises. It could be the gear that I carry, the dog proofing of the cargo area, the hitch on the rear, anything I guess.
It still doesn't even come close to all the weird noises/rattles/clunks/bangs/screeches I had in my Jeep.
So to me it's no big deal.

My rattle is gone in the sun , but insane when cold . Of cource I bought it when it was sunny lol Today was my first cold morning and loud rattle showed up like wow ! Right side of dash I think

I came from a Subaru, WRX so I'm well accustomed to squeaks and they don't bother me much anymore. That said, one of the first things I noticed in my 16 TE is the solidness of it. Now it's no LC in construction but it does feel much more substantial and solid than anything else I've owned except for my E46 M3. No squeaks yet, even going over speed bumps faster than I should.

My 2013 4R LTD with 51,000 miles has so many rattles it's driving me insane. It's my DD and has basically has been 99% hwy and I've only had it for about 2 1/2 yrs. Unfortunately I'm way past my warranty range so they won't take a look at it or fix it unless I'm paying for it which would be costly anyways since there are so many rattles

I just wanted to get a general consensus from others and how many rattles your 4R has. I don't know if this is an issue for everyone else or maybe I just got a bad egg. I don't want to trade it in and lose value but it seems a new rattle pops up every month and when all of them go off at the same time it drives me nuts.

1) Front driver & passenger side window rattles if I lower it about 1-2" going over bumps
2) Sunroof rattles when I tilt it upwards going over bumps
3) Front passenger chair seems like the seat frame rattles when going over bumps
4) Back seat (60%) makes a rattle if it is reclined in a certain position over bumps
5) There is something in the cargo area that makes a weird creaking/raking noise over bumps. Can't for the life of me reproduce it.
6) Steering wheel clicking when turning certain directions
7) Some sorta of rattle from passenger rear seat area

Iunno, is anyone else have as many issues as mine? Or maybe I just have a bad egg.

My 2015 TEP w/ only 8500 miles has same issues 1, 2, 4, 7 plus some sort of squeaking at passener windshield seal area thats the loudest of them all.. I don't drive it nice though. whats a speedbump?

Interesting topic , my new 16 has a rattle that just started this morning when it was cold . Passenger side dash area ? but sound travels . It's driving me nuts.

I have a 15 and I notice the same... only when it's cold. Almost sounds like wind buffeting. Dealer couldn't reproduce when I was in before. I am almost positive it's coming from the passenger side at the dash/windshield area.

I have/had that squeak... I have mitigated it about 90%, the 10% of the time is below 35 degrees where it rears its ugly head.

Here is how I fixed it.
Grab a beverage.
Open beverage.
Consume some beverage.

Look at you crawl control unit, there are two slots closest to the windshield to remove it with a small screw driver.

Consume some beverage.
Insert screw driver, remove unit/unplug. There are two metal tabs, tap them and you should hear the annoying noise/squeak.

Consume a beverage
Apply a drop of your favorite fast drying adhesive to the metal tabs so they can't vibrate. Wait to dry... Reinstall and your squeak should be gone.

The whole process takes about 2-3 minutes... Took me 8000 miles/7 weeks to figure out. I'm a slow learner....

Oh, try driving the Runner with the unit out to confirm that is your squeak. Not while having any beverages...

Driver side arm rest by the door handle. every time I lay or push my forearm on that piece it squeaks and creaks. I think the adhesive is coming off or the clips are loose. .

I found a great fix for the armrest squeak if you have the softex . Use a little hand lotion to lube the area where they join on the door panel and the noise is gone ! This dove me nuts on my 2015.

It's not a rattle per se, but I have a relevant question about my rig with all of 1200 miles on it.

Here in Denver we had a 70 degree day Tuesday followed by 20" of snow in 12 hours on Wednesday followed by a 50+ degree day yesterday. Obviously, the roads were a mess after the big dump but they melted fast. I drove around most of yesterday in 2wd as the roads had more or less cleared except in some neighborhoods and in the shade.


Any time I lose traction and my slip indicator light comes on, I can hear AND feel a weird clicking down by the brake pedal, like an electrical relay or something. It's consistent with when I lose traction and seems like it might be normal, but it is super annoying to me.

Anyone else noticed this and can they confirm it's simply normal but annoying? Just want to make sure it is normal.

Normal. And if you had a LE, you'd be cruising in 4wd all the time, a nice beni in CO.

Well I guess it's reassuring (somewhat) that others have rattle issues. I certainly wouldn't want to trade my 2013 LE in for a new one only to get rattles down the road anyways. Guess it makes my decision quicker to add some more mods to it.

Speaking of this, I just took mine in to fix all the rattles and squeeks and now quiet again but mine were all warranty claimed and its only a year old 15 Trail. Rear sway bar bushings were going out so dealer replaced both sides entirely. Driver side morror was completly replaced. Skid plates replaced, seat belt harness was replaced and they did some tightening to the 4x4 shifters.
Quiet as it was from driving off the lot.
