So who's got rattles?

I had a loud speaking noise in my 11 LTD which I purchased new. It started after about 4 months. With the help of this forum I put some elec tape on the tailgate catch. Solved the problem.

+1. This also works for the latches on the rear seats, if your seats are squeaking.

I have the squeaking in the rear seat in my 2014 that I had in my 2011 where the back seats click into the bracket to keep the upright. Just use some electrical tape and put it around the part on the back of the seats and when it clicks in it will be silenced.

Normal. And if you had a LE, you'd be cruising in 4wd all the time, a nice beni in CO.

Oh I know it, I would have liked to pony up for the Limited for that reason, but I straight up just don't care for the looks and it was tougher to fit into my budget without taking on 50-60k+ miles on a used one (which may have been fine, but for the same price, I bought a lesser model new).

Been driving a 4wd Toyota for 10+ years, so switching into and out of 4wd isn't new/doesn't particularly bother me, but this vibrating/clicking bothers me. I suppose I'll have to get over it because everything else about the truck is rad.

Aside from confirming it is normal, can anyone explain exactly why that is happening or what the noise actually is?

My 11 TE KDSS has a suspension ish squeak. Sometimes I hear it when I drive slowly over my uneven driveway.

Agreed, the refresh was not kind to the Limited, if I were buying today I'd have to get a new front bumper from day 1.

Just the computer "helping you", Should be the stability control (VSC or whatever). I actually get it every time I back out of my garage then go to D and pull forward a bit. Don't seem to lose traction much in snow since I put Duratracs on and I drive sanely.

Gotchya, well that's a pretty good sign your tires are doing what they should - I fully expected the stock rubber to be pretty terrible in snow and aside from this traction issue in slop around town (mostly when in 2wd of course), they actually have been better than I expected, even over rabbit ears pass in severe blizzard conditions two weeks back and of course through the storm we had last Weds in town. Still going to upgrade to KO2's later this year though.

2012 Trail here. I have a squeak coming from the drivers side splash guard. I have been too lazy to fix it, but should take all of 2 min. Other than that, no rattles. The windshield "tic" went away, so that makes me very happy.

I have/had that squeak... I have mitigated it about 90%, the 10% of the time is below 35 degrees where it rears its ugly head.

Here is how I fixed it.
Grab a beverage.
Open beverage.
Consume some beverage.

Look at you crawl control unit, there are two slots closest to the windshield to remove it with a small screw driver.

Consume some beverage.
Insert screw driver, remove unit/unplug. There are two metal tabs, tap them and you should hear the annoying noise/squeak.

Consume a beverage
Apply a drop of your favorite fast drying adhesive to the metal tabs so they can't vibrate. Wait to dry... Reinstall and your squeak should be gone.

The whole process takes about 2-3 minutes... Took me 8000 miles/7 weeks to figure out. I'm a slow learner....

Oh, try driving the Runner with the unit out to confirm that is your squeak. Not while having any beverages...

Interesting topic , my new 16 has a rattle that just started this morning when it was cold . Passenger side dash area ? but sound travels . It's driving me nuts.

2015 LE with 7K miles. I can hear rattle from the passenger side dash area on country roads. I hate this rattle and will be investigating the issue over coming weekend.

So I am hear to eat some crow and complain that MY fix didn't fix the squeak.... The squeak is back, and with a vengeance. It almost sounds like the windshield itself is squeaking.... Anyone else have this issue?

Whats annoying is that its hard to replicate, and its completely random when it comes back on smooth flat roads or down hill... Nothing while going uphill yet... But is sounds like a harness is rubbing on something or a mouse chewing on something...

FWIW I do remember seeing a TSB years ago that involved cutting some plastic clips/tabs that are used in the factory to install the windshield. These tabs could cause the windshield creak/rattle that a lot of people seem to hear.

1) Front driver & passenger side window rattles if I lower it about 1-2" going over bumps
2) Sunroof rattles when I tilt it upwards going over bumps
3) Front passenger chair seems like the seat frame rattles when going over bumps
4) Back seat (60%) makes a rattle if it is reclined in a certain position over bumps
5) There is something in the cargo area that makes a weird creaking/raking noise over bumps. Can't for the life of me reproduce it.
6) Steering wheel clicking when turning certain directions
7) Some sorta of rattle from passenger rear seat area

'15 TE and 25k on the odo. I started noticing squeaking noises coming from the back seat when I have passengers sitting in the back. Mostly on acceleration and turns, especially if I take a turn wide and slow. Thought it was just me but I have friends who ride with me sometimes tell me its annoying, Im usually driving with all the windows down or the sound too high to hear but now that I see its a known issue I might talk to the dealer. Mine's under warranty til '17 so Ill bring it up then.

Have you had any luck identifying the source of this one? I just purchased a '16 SR5 and I have the same rattle. I'd rather not deal with the service department when they aren't as careful when taking things apart.

I have a big rattle certainly caused by an unglued bottom windshield. First heard it on White Rim Road when my 2016 TE was less than 3k. I heard it then every day when on a trail. Didn't heard it since I am back. maybe the warmer temperature helped glue it back in place. I hope it will not appear then time.

'16 TRDP here. I have two intermittent rattles, one comes from the passenger side dash speaker cover, the other from the left "bump" trim above the glovebox. Just waiting for things to worsen before tearing into them in a fit of rage...

I also have a 2016 TRDP with about 2700 miles on it (2200 of that on dirt roads) and I have rattles / vibrations along the dashboard - like others have mentioned - kind of near the front speakers.

It is audible even on a paved road now.

Of course I don't notice the rattles / vibrations when the radio volume is turned up.
