Solution for Console Handgun Mount

You're right, I normally don't carry with my G19 sitting between the seat/console.....only on short trips.

On longer trips I roll ready for anything (thanks to the Walking Dead) here is an example.....
G19 chambered, 1911 chambered, safety on, 870 chambered, safety on in ready positions...

Suppressed AR15 when I want to be quiet, SBR'd Krinkov and AR15 in the back for QCB situations......never know when I'll need to go house to house looking for food and need protection from those pesky Walkers.

I keep my rations in the back along with ammunitions.

I would keep my G19 in the console but I don't have the room for it......

Not sure... but I think we may be related...

Sorry about that. Do you have a console vault? I don't in this vehicle, but in my past vehicle I used a custom made kydex holster mounted (with screws) to the inside of the console, on the driver side parallel to driver. It was a 2.5" 686.

Thanks, no I don't have a vault. You wouldn't have a picture, would you? Thanks again. Cheers!

Well it’s currently no longer ‘Law’ in TX that you have to declare you’re carrying/present your License if you have a CHL. Though that might change now that Open Carry has passed and will be Law come 1 Jan 16.

I believe the operative word on the back of the license is "detained". I don't live in Texas but I am sure the word detained is specified somewhere in Texas law.

Well that's not a TX CHL first of all, so it doesn't matter what that says.

I got tired trying to find a good handgun mount so I ordered this from Amazon Prime. Should work on a 5th gen.

Texas.....They issued your permit during the following activities:
1. At Birth (presumably at the same time they issued your birth certificate)
2. At the DMV
3. At a gun shop, buy one get on.
4. Cereal box wheaties promo with capt. America on the front.
5. Texas is awesome with exclusions of a couple things
a. Heat
b. one of your borders (not saying which)

Anyone used any kind of magnet type mount to keep the gun inside the center console? I have a HK P30 and i am thinking about sticking 3M tape on one side of a good magnet and gluing velcro to the other to keep it from scratching the slide.

Barring that i was thinking about going with something like the G-Code mount shown on the first page.

I'd be more apt to get a small piece of thick felt from your local hobby/craft store or Walmart and double-wrap that around the magnet instead. Velcro might work, but it also tends to hold lots of small crumbs and dust.
FWIW, I carry a P2000SK and haven't yet found something I like to keep it safe in the truck, so I usually just keep it with me in a Crossbreed holster. It bounces around less that way with all the padding I'm carrying around!

I used a magnet from Amazon:
Amazon.com : Tac-Mag Gun Magnet with 25 lb Rating : Sports & Outdoors

Used 3M two sided tape to mount it. Put moleskin on the business side to prevent maring.

Haha I finally found someone who keeps more guns in the car than me! ;)

For the center console question, I've got a large Maxpedition pouch that fits very nicely in the console and takes up exactly half of the console. Inside the pouch is the pistol (holstered) and two spare mags in a belt holster. The other half of the console is then filled with the rest of the junk, and the bag acts like a divider. The other plus is I can zip it shut and remove the bag containing the pistol and mags discretely if needed.

I usually keep a Glock 26 in a Galco ankle holster in the center console with one spare mag. The rest of the console has assorted items like mini binoculars, compass, SAK, flashlight etc.

I don't roll with my long guns since I retired from federal law enforcement unless I'm going shooting.
