I started working on a solution to the crazy amout of dust getting under the tailgate and collecting on top of the bumper. Thinking weatherstripping on the bottom of the tailgate. Anyone tackled this issue yet?

Well... It's a low pressure area so the vacuum makes everything collect there... To get rid of it you have to fill it or divert air into that area. Could you vent the front under the weatherstripping of the tailgate? I don't know if that would work but it is a thought.

I don't like to wash my rig it might wear my paint prematurely! My solution is to cover the dust!

I'm thinking of making a 12" drop down tailgate to cover the bumper when the hatch is open.

I guess a sliding cargo tray would also do the trick. Or I think you can buy a canvas cargo liner that has a fold out portion to protect/cover the bumper.

or be like me and don't care since that area isn't normally seen and its all plastic area. not like the dust is going to hurt it.

now this is coming from someone who didn't wash his Subaru for 2 years almost.
