I'm telling you... check out the Difinity Dakota MT's from Pepboys. They offer the most aggressive tread pattern for the dollar. You can get 33" MT's out-the-door for around $600 (with the mail in rebate).

I have run these same tires on my last 3 4Runners and they are the best tire I have ever purchased. I mean - we spend a ton of cash on everything else for our rigs, so why not save some money on your tires?

I'll vouch for the MTR being a good tire. I got a deal on some so I bought them. More aggressive that what I was wanting but damn they look good. I run them in a 255/75/17 and love them. Only thing bad is they have killed my milage. But it's also been very cold. I'm at about 15 city...but thats stop, get to 30 mph, stop, then repeat.

You may be correct. somewhere along the way I heard that Cooper is the parent company of the Difinity brand name. They are some awesome tires for sure.

I had them buried under approx 30" of untracked snow today in the mountains near my place, and they pulled me though roughly 10 miles of craziness I wouldn't do again on purpose (without a 2nd rig to help out)!

I never posted a video on here before, so I hope this works!

This portion of the access road is about 10 miles long and quite fun on a muddy day in the summer - but it was out of control yesterday. The snow is 36" deep on the sides and the single set of ruts were close to 2 feet deep - and this 150 yard section is an S turn at around 20 percent grade (I think - it's really steep). I was super nervous due to our remote location, no second rig to pull me out and the snow was so much deeper than we anticipated.

Difinity Dakota 285-75-16 MT You'd think I worked for these guys... LOL!

Well I ended up pulling the trigger on the Duratracs, here is a pic of the final product. So far loving them, they are pretty quiet with the exception of a distant hum but the ride nice and smooth.

Yes copper makes them for pep boyz
However i would not recommend these tires
I have run them and were not impressed with their on road capability
Just my .02

On road, you certainly have a case if you're not used running a MT. I have logged roughly 100K miles on 3 different 4Runners with these same tires, and they have all performed exceptionally well for a low-budget tire.

Everyone has a favorite tire they like and this one just happens to be mine. :boxing:

Then again, you can't ever go wrong in purchasing a set of Duratracs!

dont even get me started on dura craps...lol
i have never seen one brand of tires with such sidewall tears in my life......
as for the dakots....i even tried sipping them for better wet surface adherance and they still were not great....nothing like my guard dogs with kedge grip....
and i also has 2 side wall tears with the dakots......
could be bad luck, concidence, or whatever but again just my .02
i might add all sidewall failures i have witness were offroading.....
many of my friends who are running them love them on road but hate them off road "as the sidewalls seem to be an weak point"
 
The only way you save yourself with sidewall problems is with dedicated off road tires eg. Pitbulls and TSLs or maybe even a load range E. Reality is most tire manufactures like any other business makes it for the larger marketplace who probably never see more than a gravel road.

It's kinda funny you mentioned that... "dura craps". The video I posted above was done on my 285 Dakota MT's, and my neighbor tried climbing the same hill a few hours later. Guess what he's running... 315-70-17 Duratracs on a 2013 Rock Warrior Edition Tundra. Even with the rear locked, he still couldn't climb the same hill with 35" Duratracs!

I guess I stand corrected on my previous assessment of the capability of Duratracs. I'm not bashing them, but I certainly wouldn't buy them learning of my neighbor's perils in the snow. I do stand by the quality of Dakota MT's, though!
 
Well the fact that duratracs don't do well in snow is completly irrelavant in my case as I live in the middle of a desert. And my last set of duratracs did really well for the off roading that I do, and performed well on the street with very little noise. So each man is entitled to his own opinion, but I had nothing but good luck with them and got plenty of miles out of them....

In the desert I imagine they perform really well, but in the mountains of PA they don't fair so good. This is the second he's told me about getting jammed up with the Duratracs. Once in some thick mud and now in the snow. They're just not a good, self-cleaning to tire when things get thick.

But like you said, to each his own on tire selections. I prefer straight MT for all seasons. Those tires do look great on your truck, though. That's a good looking rig!
 
Of course the duratracs got stuck in thick mud and deep snow they are not an MT they are an AT. A real MT will outperform any AT in an offroad environment such as mud and deep snow which are similar in how it effects traction and momentum. I ran an AT for the first year I owned my 2nd Gen then went to a MT the following winter was great in everything except icy and damp roads..

Can you post a picture? Curious on how it turned out. Maybe sometime we should meet up, been wanting to make a trip out to sheep's bridge crossing on the verde. Nothing extreme as far as off roading, but a great day trip or even over nighter. There is even a hot spring out there if you haven't been there yet...

im getting them installed on saturday, i will post pics. Never been there, but sounds fun, I'm down. We hit butcher jones saguaro lake alot in the summer, theres alot of good wheelin out there plus you can pull right up to your own private beach cove(sometimes theres alot of people).
 
If I could just ask
I am trying to deside between toyo mt and km2's i am looking for a mud tire that will do ok in on road snow ( packed down ) I only drive it on weekends and hope to do a lot more off-roading however my wife may drive it to work if there is snow
