Sound Adjustments with new Sub - Please help!!

Ok Fellas, I need some help...........did a good bit of searching but did not find anything addressing my specific issue.........any help would be appreciated!!

2015 TE with non-JBL HU..........I installed a JL microsub (8" W3v3) with a JL amp (XD200/2v2)........Factory Entune HU and stock speakers.........

It adds some very good low end bass that the stock setup lacked, but it muffles and almost removes the mid-bass. If I turn the remote control knob all the way down (as if I added nothing) then I get the mid-bass back. It's like the amp/sub is pulling that part of the signal out. Even more odd, it's pulling the mid-bass out of my front speakers even though I tapped the rear speakers.

Is this a problem with the factory signal processing? I've read about JL's CleanSweep module, but I really didn't want to complicate things. I just wanted to add some low end thump without changing the rest.

The woofer is likely out of phase with the other speakers. Short explanation: That results in cancellation of common frequencies. Swap the orientation of the wires either at the amp or the woofer. Probably easiest at the amp. You also may want to adjust the crossover for best balance.

It could very well be the signal is already processed and crossed over. Try reversing the polarity on the sub.

One more for out-of-phase being the culprit! swap the input (positive/negative you tapped from your rear speakers) wires around.

You can also try to orient the sub 180º from where its at right now, but that doesn't always work.

Ok, thanks guys, I'll give that a try.

Not sure why incorrectly tapping the rear speakers would draw out the mid-bass from the front speakers though. Anyway, I'll give it a try.

If you are using speaker level input on the amp, via taps, that also may be where you went wrong. Check that your taps and corresponding wires to the amp are oriented in the same manner. Be sure that you are feeding the amp the Pos and Neg (polarity) from speaker level taps correctly. Then do as previously instructed.
Google speaker phase and you will find what we are talking about.

Problem solved. Swapped the leads and adjusted the gain a bit. Thanks guys!!

MedicLt.......no, the Cleensweep looks like a good idea but I got it balanced without. Also, my amp has the line converter built in.
