South Carolina get together?

Oh, no Chick-fil-a near there that I know of (in Laurens). I tried Google Maps and it didn't turn up any results. We (Darklight and I) were just talking about eating breakfast up here close to home and convoying down.

well the nuts on the right side of my steering rack (that actually hold it in place) broke off on my last offroading excursion. I had toyota order me some new ones, (im just gonna have to through-bolt it). but basicall what took place was that the crossmember of the frame where the steering rack nuts are welded in, well, they snapped. the reason is due to a bunch of wet grease, mud, water, and whatever else sat in there long enough and put a 24/7 rust-a-thon in place. when I went to torque, schnap!!

so, i thought why not just get new bolts and nuts and through bolt. that way i know it cant break loose. Ill let yall know what the final verdict is tomorrow after im done. Should have it done by tom eve.

im also in dire need of a CV spare or replacement. so if someone is bringing a spare im down, but ive used all mine up and havent re-upped yet.

That sucks dude. Hope you get it squared away. Just keep us posted. I'm actually waiting on some parts myself to get here so that I can put them on this week, otherwise it might be some tough sledding. I've got confidence that they'll make it in time though.

I just found out this weekend that somewhere inside my rear diff I have an air leak in my rear locker's supply line. Its not a big enough leak to prevent it from operating though lol. I can just hear air coming from the Diff Breather as well as the compressor intermittently comes back on to build the pressure back up. Oddly enough the leak itself has just developed over the past two months as it worked perfectly before and after my last run at uhwarrie. What brought my attention to it was the puddle of gear oil surrounding the locker solenoid manifold. It should be fine for the trip this weekend. I would fix it (probably a tear in the copper line from interference with the ring gear or possibly a bad o-ring) but I have class and work all week.

I should see my front LCA skids before the trip, possibly mount them friday night.

a little update

For those that don't know, due to the incredible amount of rainfall that we received last week, the park was shut down this past weekend because the bottom was pretty much under water. For those that don't know the lay of the land, Gulches is basically a bowl with a river running right through the middle of it, so when that bad boy swells, you can imagine what happens.

I've emailed Skip to get his thoughts on the conditions for this weekend. According to the forecast we've got a chance for additional rain inbound on Friday that could put a damper on things. We may be in faced with calling an audible here gents. I'll keep everyone posted on what I hear. Let's hope it clears up and we can get some wheeling done!
 
Doesn't look like I'm gonna be making this one. We'll all have to get up a spring or summer event planned. Y'all have a good ride (weather permitting) and stay safe!

Gulches Off Road Vehicle Park
Park Conditions 1/25-26 This is a tough one to call with a possible ice storm coming maybe Friday. Right now they are calling for 50% chance of rain in Waterloo. Now I don't believe we will flood like last week but what it might do to the trails is hard to tell. I want to open and I probably will. But once again it will most likely be slick and street tires will not do well. I am going to the park on Friday to get an idea of what it will bring. Best bet is to hang on and call later for a better guess. The weather guys have not been right too much the last couple of months. Right now the park is in very good shape and dry with the low humidity. With just a little freezing rain we might be OK.

^^^ That's funny... I was just about to post the reply he emailed me this morning... And it was this verbatim. So it looks like we're in a holding pattern until late Friday. Ugh, not good.

The NCFJ guys may be planning a contingency trip that we could possibly piggyback onto, but that one might be invite only... Not sure.

Until then, I guess just stand by and pray we get to wheel!

My grandfather has asked me to come help him out around his house this weekend. He needs his fence mended, and a few other things. If I get to a solid point Friday, I may continue to come, but I just can't say for sure at the moment.
