sorry to be the negative betty here, but this thread is becoming fairly useless due to pages writing etc
I think it would be much eneficial to break it up in separate DIY threads, and OP can keep the result images in this thread.
I was just looking for one of the mods on here, and had to go through 20 pages..
(this doesn't mean that OP is doing anything shy of amazing job)

The motorcycle thing reminded me of how I got a new 4Runner in the first place: my wife was going to buy me a present and asked what I wanted. I spammed her with pictures of wide glides and soft tails before she said "If we're going to spend that much I might as well buy you a truck". Done deal.

I've been beating that drum ever since she had the baby! The progression of the conversation from beginning to end was so fast - so surreal! - that I didn't even have a chance to contribute. It started. It ended. And it was done...just like that. I never spoke, so I don't know if it was a conversation or not...
(Note: "beating that drum" in this case is proverbial, and means "I've been giving that speech" or "I've been telling her that". There is no dirty meaning.)

Modification: Kappa Speaker Install
Infinity 32.9cf 3.5" Kappa Speakers - about $50 on Amazon.com
Amazon.com: Infinity 329CF 105W Peak 3-1/2 -Inch Custom Fit Two-Way Speakers (Pair): Electronics
Difficulty Scale (1 to 10): Six (mitigated to a one because Antman had changed out his speakers, and then up to a six because Mrs. Sp8ball did the mod)
Sp8ball’s Personal Intimidation Factor (1 to 10): One
Install Time: One Hour
Reason for Doing It: Improve speaker and sound quality from front/dash speakers
Benefit: Sounds much, much clearer and better overall
Cons: Cutting of speaker covers, still trying to make them site right again.
Other Products Considered: Leaving it stock, other 3.5" speakers

I'll just come right out and say that I did this mod because everyone else was doing it, and because I noticed that the front/dash speakers sounded a little...muffled. I'm not going to go into a huge writeup with 35 pictures to capture a mod that it seems like half the forum has done, so I'll just provide a link to the original post that started it all!
What made this mod unique, then?
Well, that Mrs. Sp8ball did the install, and not me! Jeff has the patience of...well, something that's really patient.
Is this a desperate attempt to get some more traffic to my thread? Perhaps. Or it is just coincidence that I posted this when I fell to the 5th page of the forum. You Will Never Know.

We did...mostly because it stopped working about 4.2 seconds after putting it all back together, leading me to say, "Crap! We need some insulation."
As for "keeping up the modding"...I have the parts for a Satoshi Grille Mod in the garage, but waiting for the right time to get it done.
(OK, fine...I still have to lose weight to make Mrs. Sp8ball agree to the grille mod)
After that, I think she's leaning towards "making it louder", and she's also saying that the chrome roof rack now looks way out of place...
(BajaRack, anyone?)
But this weekend will be dedicated to helping Antman install his Gobi Stealth!

Hey sp8ball, just reading over your door handle LED mod and was just curious if you looked into getting the OEM LED's for the door handles. Is it possible to just order them from the dealer? is there possibly even a connector for them already??

Excellent question! I did think about that approach...after I did it with the other LEDs.
Looking at pages 121 and 122 of the Parts Manual that Harper7 posted, it looks like that's Part number 7 in the door assembly. I never noticed it before! In your drawing, it's broken out from the harness.
However, it's a $30 part, whereas my LEDs were $4 a piece. But the ones you found definitely provide the stock look. I wonder if it's plug-n-play...

You can use the part numbers from the afore-linked Parts Manual and look the part up from toyotapartsales.com. Great service, good reputation, good prices.
