SPC UCA Alignment Sheets

Yes, on the SPC UCAs - they are on G. They did not touch them, or the LCA cam adjusters. I was there with them the whole time. He said that given the specs that I drove-in with, he felt he could get what I wanted just with the tie rods.

I spent a fair amount of time to max the appropriate cams outward and inward, using a reference piece of tape to ensure I was maxed. The SPC tops have slotted adjustments for camber. My checks in the garage determined that I should max those out too, so I shoved those inward as far as possible (towards negative camber). I drove-in with the exact same caster: 3.2 and 3.1 and camber was .3 and .2...

FWIW, the forum member who recommended this shop also got some really nice caster #s at 2.5 and 2.4.

Charlie, funny, I was thinking the same - road crown. My notes even had such, but he was pretty fixated on caster, balanced on each side, while scissoring the wrenches and staring at the screen. Sort of icing-on-the-cake type of thing, and I felt bad asking, especially with a kid in the waiting room... I was giddy with 3+ caster, so I accepted those specs and got out of there.

Ideally, maybe a little less toe would desirable?
 
what allignment shop are you taking it to? im in anchorage also but have no clue where to take it. buddy told me to take it into alaska alignment center

Would you mind posting pictures of where you set your lca cams on each side? I have my SPC UCA adjusted to where I want it but considering readjusting my lca cams to see how much further I can move my tire away from the firewall before taking it in for alignment this Friday.

You've been most helpful hammering home the G setting, that's the least I can do man. I just went through my photos and found some, but I thought I had more...

@Tony, can you please also take a pic of your upper control arms showing the ball joint location within the slot?

I wish I read through all of this thread before spending several hours trying to adjust for clearance and getting both LCA cams on the same nuetral setting...

Sorry, was out all day...

On G, I moved both inward, to the max, and that worked very well for me. I had the cam adjusters set as noted earlier...

OK, just checking, as it sounded like some were getting middle of the range. I did the loose starting and drive it back and forth to settle method and they ended up pretty much max inwards.

I'm still getting some rubbing with 35x12.5 but it's not nearly as bad as before. However, I still think it steers worse than before, like there is not enough castor. The return to center is really almost non-existent. I guess we'll see where it stands after alignment.

After reviewing this thread, I set the upper ball joint in the 'G' setting, and maxed the rear adjustment all the way out, and the front adjustment all the way in for the LCA, to get the wheel as far from the back of the wheel well as possible.. what am I missing? *** has not been to an alignment shop yet clearly***

Anyone else end up looking like this at the beginning?

Actually, now that I'm thinking about this out loud in my head, could the outer tie rod ends be causing the positive camber? I haven't adjusted them at all, they are still set from before I put the lift on. (I did the lift and SPC's at the same time). The SPC camber is maxed in, so OTRE's are all I can think that could be "pulling" the wheels in like this. Could someone on 'G' setting with a 3" lift maybe tell me how many threads are showing on their outer tie rod ends?? :help:
 
Tire rods would only effect toe-in. Take some pictures of the upper ball joints and how those are sitting in the UCA.

I have basically the same set up and camber is just borderline. not anywhere near where yours is

Bumping this thread cause I have to install mine and curious if the above pictures are correct.

Curious what setting people are running if you plan on running 285 or 255 tires on stock rims? Sounds like most are running in the g setting with 35s.

How much lift do you have in the front? Higher lift makes it harder to avoid positive camber. Your eccentric and UBJ positions look reasonable.

If you're lifted way more than average, you might have to put both LCA eccentrics out to get proper camber. This would obviously not be ideal, since it would stop you from maxing out the caster with the eccentrics.

3” of lift, or close to it. Im going to get it on an alignment rack and go from there. Thanks for the input.
 
Waiting on my spc's to show up tomorrow.

[MENTION=395703]ThySenteth[/MENTION] - by any chance, have you jumped your runner? Could it be bent steering knuckles? Back in the day I worked for vw, I had a customer that jumped his touareg in the dunes and his tires looked just as yours do. Was a bent subframe and knuckles.

Hopefully that is not it, but we're you able to resolve it?
 
Did you ever get your control arms dialed in?

No not yet. If I wait long enough I can put it on the alignment rack where I work, and just give the tech a $20. He just needs to find the time. I may mess with the lower arms a bit more and see if that effects the camber at all..

I did move the ball joint to position 'F' and it helped a tad bit.. but it still looks like swole spongebob going down the road.

Hasn't been jumped no. Nothing bent and all was well before I lifted it. Funny how everyone's situation varies a bit. I'll be sure to update when I finally figure it out. May be a bit though before I get it on a rack...

I just read through all 12 pages of this thread. I am struggling with my alignment and would welcome advice.
Three weeks ago I installed the following:
SPC uca’s
5100’s with T1 coils
White line lca bushings
OEM lbj’s
Steering rack and sway bar bushings
As well as rear OME 891 coils and 5100’s

Since the install I have had two alignments.

SPC’s are at position D.

My 4runner feels very twitchy and unsafe at higher speeds. And pulls to the left significantly.

My tires even sound louder. If that makes sense

I have a vibration as well, but I think it is the needle bearing in the front clamshell. Replaced all ball joints as well. Also new CV’s

Please help.
