Speaker Replacement Opinions

Limited Complete Speaker Replacement

Started with the dash speakers and was like wow that sounds better. Well eventually replaced them all. The sound is actually pretty amazing with the factory JBL Audio head unit and factory amp. Here is what I would recommend.

Dash: JBL Club 3020, however if I were to re-try I would do Hertz Uno 3.5
Front Door: Hertz 6 1/2" woofer Note: Factory there is no highs in the doors
Rear Door and Hatch: Hertz 5 1/4 Unos
Subwoofer: Pioneer Low Profile 2 channel 2 Ohm

As it stands I can turn this thing up to MAX volume and it sounds pretty darn intense, and yes I am picky about sound.

Crutchfield has everything mentioned with the mount adapters and harnesses for plug and play.

All in $500 and so and liking it very :hatsoff:

What do you think what the most impactful upgrade? Did you notice a difference w/ the Pioneer sub w/o adding an amp? I wanted to make sure it was better w/o having to add an amp.

I just did the OEM+ speakers. Without the sub. And it’s night and day. If I add a sub later on it will probably be just one under the seat. But for now I’m very happy.

Anyone here willing to give up their stock dash tweeters? I don't need brackets, just tweeters. If not local I will of course pay shipping. I'm sure someone has theirs that they'll never use again.

Yes I still have my stock tweeters, I replaced them with a set from a Subaru. PM me and I’ll look up the shipping cost.

Most impactful is the dash speakers, I would go with Hertz Deci 3 1/2" for the dash as my JBL Club 3020's developed a voice coil issue after too much cranking. Just put the Hertz in my Dash and they actually fit better too!

So you think getting just the dash replaced and leaving everything else stock and adding sub would be a good upgrade?no need for highs in the doors and dash or least I think.

are the speaker upgrades really such a night and day difference?

I have a 2018 ORP which has non-JBL and besides not having a sub, I find that the oem audio is not bad at all. I usually keep the volume level at about 40 daily.

I did add subs (2 sundown SA-8's on 1500w) but have not ran into any distortion issues with the original speakers.

Is it just to improve highs? My experience from audio I have done in my G35 is that using aftermarket speakers/components you gain highs and lows but lose midrange.

Also, not sure if they would even be as loud as oem without adding a 4channel amp.

Curious to hear opinions on the exact gains and differences people are getting.

Recently swapped out the tweeters with the plug-and-play Subaru Kickers, front and rear doors also with Kickers, and hatch doors with Rockford Fosgate. Ordered the tweeters from amazon and the rest from Crutchfield who supplies all needed brackets/hardware. Great customer service. Quality-wise, 10x better than all the stock speakers which feel much lighter and flimsier than these aftermarket speakers. Definitely noticed a good improvement over stock, especially at the middle to higher limits of volume.

Did you use bass blockers on your dash install?
