Tell you friend at Cornfed that he should develop a spacer that is less than 1.25"

I really believe there would be a market for a .75" or 1" wheel spacer, because the 1.25" put the wheels just a little too far out, in my opinion. The reason for 1.25" is because that seems to be the minimum thickness to allow the spacer to bolt on and clear the stock lugs. If someone made a thinner spacer and included longer lugs to replace the original lugs, I think it would be much better.
