I am trying to get a sport hood for my Runner and was wondering if a '99 sr5 hood was any different from a '00 limited hood. I know a guy who has one and I'm wondering if it will fit. He also said make him an offer so i might need some advice on what a slight/medium hail damaged,but not to bad, hood might bring. Advice and counsel gladly welcomed.

Edit: just called a dealership and they quoted me 461 for a black sport hood no color option.

All models years are interchangeable. If it has hail damage, offer $200...

You can get an aftermarket one CHEAP, and then paint it. That is what I did, check out my build thread for the info.

Cetifit hood with scoop cutout is $80-$90

You have to buy the scoop insert and pieces from toyota for about $140ish

Maybe see if he will just sell the scoop insert and hardware for cheap then you can get the aftermarket hood. Mine fit perfectly as well as others that bought the aftermarket hood.

Try this from ebay....(you will still need the inserts and bolts/screen etc etc etc, these are a dealership only items.) and you will also need to paint it green to match your truck, but way cheaper for this hood than the dealership.....

Yep, I have a certifit one as well, but I think I got my insert parts for closer to $100 (if i'm not imagining things) and paint was $180 or so. I would offer him $250 at most, assuming it's color matched to your truck. Otherwise I'd try to buy the insert only ($100) and buy the certifit hood.

Test fitted mine today. My brother got mine from his supplier for $125, Got my insert off Ebay the other day for $55 with a couple scratches . He's charging me $100 bucks to paint it.

second Q?: what is the best way to get hail dings out ball-peen, heat gun, one of those suction cup pop-a-dent things?

is it just me or should every 4runner have a hood scoop?:bluejump: it looks so good IMO. can't wait to get mine, but it has to wait for more important maintenance first. good luck with the swap, i think 2 hundy plus your hood in return is more than fair, especially when you can get a brand new AM one plus brand new scoop guts for just north of $200. in fact, i'd rather have the brand new stuff. of course you'd need paint for a brand new one.

I haven't tried it or know how well it works but I've seen guys on youtube using dry ice to get dents out.

I agree with the maintenance first! I have a log of all the oil changes, how much oil, what kind, and the miles on the ODOM. Also any other work that has been done on it since my family has had it.

In your bumper, you have the two blinker lights which I see you've switched to clear lenses. Then, just inside of those you have what looks like either driving or fog lights that look to be dealer-installed, directly under your light-bar. I'm wondering if you could give me more information on those such as what size they are and how they are attached to the truck.

I have a 98 and have been looking around for ways to add driving lights without adding a light bar or brush guard or something and I love how those look.

alrighty, those are just the stock fog lights, 2" dia I believe and 55 watt H3 bulbs, that came with the Runner and I had to find a place to put them, without having to extend the wiring, and that ended up working great. Basically I just copied the stock mounting piece and fabricated one to fit what the lights.
just measured the pins and how it all went together. BTW my blinkers actually came like that I have done anything to them. haha although some clear corners would be nice.

this is the blinker and just did the same thing. it removes out the front like stock but it is recessed enough to protect it.

and with them both bolted up. they fight like a glove.

I think you are talking about "r34sklnnsn" his T4R is the one that has the dealer installed fog lights in the front bumper of his '98...."RJLeagles2010" has a '00 w/oem projector fog lights in his bumper also but he has a custom built bumper and his is not a '98.....

Sorry about not replying about the lights, They were dealer installed Hella. I am looking for a replacement one as the gasket on one is shot and the reflector is rusted out. May find some the same size and replace both.
