Spray adhesive for carpet to wood?

I' wrapping up my rear deck with slide out shelf in my 4r.

The top deck will have automotive carpet. I was going to use 3m Super 77 to attach the carpet to the deck (baltic birch ply) however, I saw that the failure point is 150deg, which is feasible to attain in a car.

I was looking at the automotive fabric specific adhesive by 3M and also Hi-Strength 90 which is rated to 250deg. I'm not sure what the automotive version is rated to as it doesn't say on their site.

Has anyone had experience with either sprays? The automotive one is almost double the price as the 90.

Also, what y'all think of it adhering to the plywood if the ply had a poly finish? I wanted to finish it just in case of any spills. Do you think it would adhere to the poly ok?

I used WeldWood rubber cement. Get the mastic type and applicator. It's also water proof.

it's good to 180deg. That should be plenty right?


Is this the environmentally friendly one? This is the only available locally in store. The original is only avail in 3oz bottle or the spray version.

I've used the 3M 90 a lot and it works very well. I've attached aluminum sheets to thin plywood and it holds VERY well so carpeting is a non-issue. It applies more like a webbing than a spray.

I ended up going with the 3M Hi Strength 90. It was readily available at my local hardware store. That stuff worked awesome!
