Sprint Iphone 5/4S

IP5 specs (not confirmed):

And here is what my source said about the iPhone 5 that will launch as a Sprint exclusive:

•Faster CPU.
•Larger 4-inch screen, similar to LG’s NOVA display but with a higher resolution.
•1GB of RAM.
•Slightly larger design overall, but thinner and with a larger battery.
•32GB of storage.
•iPhone 5 exclusive software and APIs (Assistant).
•Dedicated Assistant button, possibly integrated with the new home button, “think gestures or a two-stage button like a camera shutter key).
 
If true...IP5 exclusive at a LOWER cost than inferior IP4S on other carriers. And it will be compatible on 4GWimax network...so, it will be the only Iphone in the US that is 4G compatible...until next year. This should give Sprint plenty of head start against the other carriers.

Money talks i guess...$20 billion over 4 years for a few months of exclusivity...wow. :jaw drop: Sprint is really anxious to grow here! If true, then Sprint gets what it has always dream of...pulling customers from other carriers, instead of the other way around.
 
Well the meeting is over. to sum it up, iPhone 4S will be available on sprint, verizon and att on October 14th. iOS 5 will be released on October 12th and iPhone 5 is looking like early next year.

Yup, although 4S specs is impressive enough, it is not enough to sway me. So, i will upgrade my current flip phone (Sanyo SCP7050) to the Kyocera Duramax this year...and use my Premier account status (to end 12/31/2012) next year to upgrade to Iphone 5/5S/6.
 
I'm up for a Sprint upgrade in Dec. Currently leaning towards the Evo 3D.

No doubt Apple's got it figured out, but I'm going HTC/Android just like I go PC over Mac.

**edit. Anyone know if HTC is going to have a new phone for Sprint before December?

I'm disappointed with the 4S, I was hoping Apple would add 4G but doesn't look like that's going to be a reality just yet. Will probably stick to my Android until iPhone 5 comes out unless I get so frustrated with it I slam it against a wall or something. It's not worth spending $600+ (my contract is not up yet) for something that isn't that huge of an improvement.

For me, if i were to go Android, i would ONLY go with HTC or Nexus/Google phones.

Nexus PRIME is supposed to come out next Tuesday (1 week after Apple announcement)...and it is supposed to be amazing (4.6" edge-to-edge screen, 1280x720 resolution, 1.5 Ghz dual core, etc.). It should be available on all carriers i would imagine now that Iphone is everywhere. Nexus/Google won't let Apple off the hook that easily! Nexus Prime is supposedly Iphone 5 competitor.

So, by December, you should have Nexus Prime available on Sprint...i think. Nexus Prime is Android's top dog...starting next week. And because it is a Nexus/Google phone, it should also have updates the quickest since it is Google's own phone, not HTC, Motorola, or Samsung.

But, i think that you are selling yourself short by going Android just because you don't like Mac. I don't like Mac either...i have a PC. But, after having Android for 3 months, Apple software & seamless integration are far superior to Android. This may explain why retention rate (e.g. return customer) for Android phone is very low compared to Apple Iphone.

Well, 4S is not all that disappointing. It is basically everything we thought the IP5 would be, except for the small screen (3.5"). Good processor, good IOS5, good camera, etc..

For me, with the small screen and having projects to do with my house, i will wait for the next "big" one from Apple.

My brother is going to do that since he's a Premier Gold customer and order the 4S on 10/7 and get the iPhone 5 in 2012. Some rumors are Sprint's big announcement on 10/7 may be the iPhone 5, because Apple doesn't want to hold an event and say here's the iPhone 5, but it's only on Sprint for now and not VZW or AT&T. I think it will be they're going LTE. I don't know.

I ordered the Evo 3D last night from Amazon for $100, half the price of what Sprint would charge, not to mention the tax associated with $550. If you're holding out, I would wait past December and go for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).

I checked out the Samsung Galaxy S2, the screen is bright and huge, the .2" difference is dramatic. However, I'm not impressed by TouchWiz 4, the build quality and the over sensitive orientation sensor. When I held it in my hand it kept going into landscape mode.

Apple aside, when it comes to smartphones, I rank HTC at the very top and the best manufacturer out there.

And quick call out that I do believe that the iphones are probably better/etc, I truly do. I think I'm just opposed for unknown reasons and not wanting to admit to myself that they're better... lol. I think its the whole everything through itunes that puts me off. My Sister lent me her itouch for a flight and I loved it, but wanted to add a movie, and anyone with ''i'' anything knows that's not possible without having to delete her movies... I got annoyed with that and other stuff and vowed to stick with Android (rightly or wrongly). I am quite frustrated with my Droid daily too... ''woah is me...'' haha

Don't forget about Siri the best part of the 4S that everyone was waiting for.

:iagree: Apple has a superior design that speaks volumes of built quality and R&D when it comes to their hardware, it's unmatched.

That is my biggest beef with Apple products. To get anything on the iPhone/iPod/iPad, I need their sync cable and iTunes. Sometimes a specific computer too as with my Shuffle, I can't use different computers to get additional MP3's on to it without wiping it. With other OSes, I can dump the files directly to the memory card and pop it back in or just use a mini/micro USB cable and set the phone to be in disk drive mode and copy away. The other thing is they are designed the way Apple wants you to use them and lack customization.

Being in IT and hate having to be IT support on my free time and provide it for free, I would put my grandparents on a Mac and iPhone any day of the week. ;):

While I'm not a big fan of Apple products, but I do respect Jobs for his outlook on life and attitude. Jobs was phenomenal as businessman and visionary. Some products were not Apple firsts, but they refined them and made it hugely successful.
 
I've been with spint forever. I've never been incredibly impressed with them, but they've always had decent phones.
I may be getting my wife one of the new iphones, if I can get her a cloned sero premium account or something.

Decent is right. The number of phones Sprint has/had that would make customers want to sign up for Sprint was slim pickings. IMO, the Treo 600 was one and recently the Evo 4G at best. The iPhone 4S on Sprint won't necessarily help them pick up new customers, but it'll definitely help keep customers from deflecting.

SERO, Sprint Employee Referral Offer. It's an old/legacy/expired Sprint plan that was offered sometime during 2005-07. This was the "hook up" if you knew a Sprint employee or their email. The plan is much cheaper than normal consumer plans. At it's initial introduction, it was 300 or 500 anytime minutes, with unlimited n/w, Sprint to Sprint, data and text for $30/mo. IIRC, SERO Premium is either additional minutes or for smart phones. However, SERO is unlike the consumer plans in which you pay $10/line per month for smartphone 3G or 4G. With SERO, Sprint charges the $10/line for smart phones and another $10 if it's 4G. I've heard people fetching a few hundred bucks on eBay for SERO plans.

The closet thing to SERO now are Sprint Everything Plus Referral plans.
