Squeak at passenger side air intake

Hello all,

New to the forum. I own a 1999 4runner limited 2x4. I'm having an issue with squeaking in what I think is my fresh air intake. It's coming from the passenger side anytime I run my AC or heat. I also hear it outside the car at what I think is the fresh air intake grill. I've tried spraying WD40 in the grill to stop the squeaking but that hasn't worked. Anyone know how I can get to the fan and either replace it of oil it better so it wont squeak? It's driving me crazy!!!

Does the squeak vary with the speed of the cabin blower? Is the blower motor getting ready to quit?

Yes it does vary with the speed. I don't think it's ready to quit. Seems to blow air just fine without any struggle.

There may be a piece of debris or the bearing in the motor is squeakin'. I think you're going to have to pull the blower motor to get to it.

Do i pull it from the engine side of the car or remove the dashboard and get to it?

The blower motor is under the glove box and requires removing 3 philips head screws to drop it. If you need to remove the kick panel for more room then you just have to remove the passenger door threshold first. It's very easy to remove and the blowers can get noisy so this is probably the issue. Don't go blasting any more wd-40 if you find the problem is the fan, use some graphite instead so it will not gunk up.
