Squeal in tailgate glass

I have a loud squeal (or squeak) whenever I lower the tailgate glass in my 2011 T4R. What is the best thing to lubricate with to eliminate the squeal?

So do I...but not all the time. I've ignored it so far, but seem to remember using some kind of silicone spray lubricant when I had the same problem on another vehicle. (Okay, no lubricant jokes please.)

FWIW, my 2011 SR5 rear glass does the same thing. I don't know how to fix it nor whether it needs to be fixed.

If you don't know exactly where the squeak is coming from are a few things to do:
1. First, before you take anything apart, lower the rear window completely.
2. Get a bottle of isopropyl alcohol.
3. Using a rag, clean the lower dust seal (goes all the way across the lift gate) where the window rubs with a rag and the alcohol. If the squeak persists then
4. Clean the side tracks the same way. Sometimes dust embedded in the seal will cause a squeal. If this does not work then

You will now have to take the rear trim panel off. Instructions are all over this forum with a little searching. After removing the panel:

5. Get a can of white lithium grease at any auto parts store. This is good and lasts a long time, much longer than anything else for this application and is what the factory typically uses.
6. Locate the squeak by putting the window up and down a few times and grease this mechanism.

It's the glass on the seal.

Spray water all over it. Mine does that after wheeling in dusty areas. I just get it super wet when washing and roll it up and down a few times and it gets the dust off the seal.

I have heard that rain-x on both the inside and the outside takes care of the squeal too. Haven't had to try it yet though so I have no idea if it works or not. Sounds like a sound theory though.

my 2012 does it as well.
said something at first service, shop foreman said it was dirt and dust.
mine only does every so often.
will try the rainx trick tho

Water works fantastic. See my post above. I live in the desert, and wheel in the desert often. My window squeals on occasion and this has always fixed it.

I find that mine does this also. I just wash it and it goes away for some time until it gets dirty again.
