SR5 or Limited? 4WD Differences on Sand.

I just took my 2013 limited in some soft sand and had a get stuck competition with dads Tahoe. I have 275/55 r20s on the rig and wasn't able to get stuck with 32lbs of air. I locked it in 4h and also 4L for fun. Unless I didn't engage atrac in 4low, I couldn't even bury the rig. He aired down to 18lbs and was stuck/buried constantly on 265s. My prior 2008 limited wouldn't let me run in sand without the VSC complaining and I would have to lock in. This one seems to let you cause more harm without chiming in. I was more impressed with the 2013 limited than my 2008.(close to same tire width) Not sure exactly what changed but I know I don't have to disable things like I used to. You will be fine with any of the systems in sand. The limited system is better on ice and slick daily driving. You will sacrifice some mileage but if you live somewhere with slick driving on a daily basis, the limited rules. If you do get the limited the 245 tires can be a detriment in sand but that is easy to fix by airing down or getting some tire that look like they belong on a 4runner. (265 +)

Also had a 2001 and a 2002 grand Cherokee both with v-8 and quadratrack. Limited 4runner is way better in all aspects. Both my 2008 and 2013.

My useless comment for this thread: If you need sand performance, then you should be looking at a Trail. Search for videos of Toyota vehicles getting themselves unstuck in sand with Crawl Control. Its pretty friggin awesome....

Thanks for the info. Sorry for the late response but I have been tied up with family and thanksgiving. I will look for the videos.
