SRQ-Runner Build Thread

Redid my grille and added some lighting. Stole the idea from a member on here.

Cool grille, what led strip did you use and what did you do to wire it?brelayed individual or tapped in

It's a 60cm LED amber/white strip from eBay, comes in a package of two for $18. I have them wired into the corner lights right now as amber until I get a switch that runs into the cab. I'll be sure to get a switch which will let me change it from off/amber/white.

Here's white, forgot to add it:

Don't like that the white is so bright in the picture below. I'm sure in daylight it wouldn't reflect as much though.

I have never commented here but I am glad to see more and more 2wds getting on the forum. I know we are the "under dogs" here but we still love 4Runners. Keep up the good work!

Those brighter bulbs like that will burn out faster. My first set of similar bulbs lasted less than a year. I just put a second set in. It's worth the extra bit of light over the regular H4 bulbs. Although a retrofit is the way to go if you really want some great headlights. I keep contemplating one in the 4Runner, but I'm not sure how it would hold up to my offroading.

Just received some new battery terminals and LED licence plate lights that I hope to install on Friday. Then I'm off to an off road park Saturday with a few other runners. Will be sure to get some pictures!

Also purchased a custom rear bumper shown in previous posts, plan on getting it sand blasted, then painted up. Hopefully it will be on soon.

Installed the new LED lights in the rear.

Also got the negative battery terminal on. When I went to start, I noticed the wire going from the battery to the fender was broken. I went ahead and replaced it with 4 gauge wire. I plan on doing the big 3 upgrade soon but needed to do something for the mean time.

Few pictures from this past weekend. Had a great time with some other members on here. Definitely going to be doing the rear dif breather soon. Also need to look at doing something with my K&N as it got a little wet in some deep water crossings. Overall really happy with the performance of the 2wd, although a E-Locker would make it perfect. Lowered the pressure in the rear tires down to about 20 psi and she was good to go. It was a 3 hour drive to the park, wheeled from 10-3, then drove 2 more hours back to visit my parents. Cleaned her the following day and then drove her 5 hours back to school on Monday with no problems. Actually got the best gas mileage I've ever gotten before, 19.6 mpg! Really enjoyed this weekend!

Here's the video I put together, you can see the water crossing we went through.

Hit my skid plate on smothering, honestly don't remember what. It's dented, but I'll probably just leave it how it is. Gives it some character.

So I should have my rear bumper tomorrow! Depending on the condition, I'm probably going to have it sand blasted before I do anything with it. Still deciding if I just want to paint it black or use some sort of bed liner. Decisions Decisions
