Did a MPG test, 270 miles of all city driving and averaged 17.3 mpg. Can anyone confirm if this is good or bad for a 2.7L? I know there is a lot of people that discuss MPG for the 6 cylinder, but haven't seen much on the 4.

IIRC, you have a 2WD and according to the EPA, you should get about 17 in the city so you're right in the sweet spot. What's the weather like right now? If it's pretty warm right now, you should see a little bit more MPG. Then again, you do have that CAI.

Oh it was a joy, I hate tourist season. Thanks for the information, I'm surprised I'm actually still at the estimate with my tires and leveling kit. I guess it's not like I have a 3" lift or anything. In the mornings it's upper 40's, low 50's and the high is in the mid 70's.

That sounds a little low for the 4 cylinder. That's about what I get with my V6. I even have bigger tires than you and a slight lift.

Just ordered 1.25" wheel spacers. I figured since I cant go up, mine as well go out a little bit. Hopefully with my leveling kit I wont have rubbing, but if I do ill just get cutting!
Got 8 stickers from China for $1.35 and free shipping. Figured I mean as well put some on the Runner and see how they look. Think it turned out pretty cool. Worse comes to worse I rip them off and I'm out a dollar.
Also got two LED light bars I was going to use as AUX backup lights. But a friend is going to buy them from me. I'll probably go ahead and purchase anther set from EBay if I can get another great deal.

I ordered my wheel spacers from Sixity auto and I was very impressed with that fact that they even gave me free three day shipping. So today I received my wheel spacers and planned on installing them tomorrow after my half marathon. But, the second I opened the box I knew something was wrong. Happily I got one correct set of 1.25" hubcentric wheel spacers. The other set not so much, to start they are not even the right size bore for a 4runner hub, and to make matters worse they aren't even hubcentric. Very disappointed that this has happened, now I guess i'll be waiting till Monday to even talk to someone. I'm sure they will resolve the situation and I'm going to give them a chance. But with that said it shouldn't have been that hard to give me the right items as I bought a set of 4, not 2 pairs. On a better note, maybe ill have pictures next weekend of the spacers installed....

Figure it's time for a little life updated,
I got accepted to Florida State University this past December and have decided to attend there this coming Fall. Thankfully I will be bringing the 4runner up with me so I will be able to explore the off road trails of northern Florida and southern Georgia. After I get settled I'm going to try and find some off roading clubs I can join, I'm sure most of them will be filled with Jeeps though. I'll be studying civil engineering while I'm up at FSU and may have the opportunity to continue my internship with Stantec (engineering firm), which I have been doing this year during high school. Can't way to get up there!
As for athletics, I am now part of two relay teams and a cross country team that have broken school records. The latest record we broke was last week during a track meet with all relay races, the previous record was set by my teammates and I the previous year. I'm so proud to be the captain of these amazing runners/teammates/ and life long friends. Sadly I didn't make the cut for the XC team up at FSU but I plan on joining a running club or triathlon club as I'd go crazy if I did not have some team to be a part of. Sorry, but I had to brag a little about my high school team!
As for the runner, I recently sold my PS3 and other video games which I don't have time for anymore. I also have been steadily tutoring a 8th grader in Algebra. With that I am bring in a lot more money then I have been. Although I am putting a lot towards college, I of course have to spend some on the runner. I'm thinking about a few different things, like redoing my grille, AUX back up lights, blue gauge lights, and maybe adding a sub. But would love to hear if you guys had any other ideas for the truck.
And I guess i'll add a picture in for good times sake::bluejump:

Congrats Matt on the FSU acceptance. Best looking ladies at any college in the country. Good ACC school, though I don't know squat about their engineering programs there. Most I know went to Clemson or GT.

The boat pics look great. If you make it to the Miami boat show, snap some pics.
If you do any fishing at night (who doesn't in FL) consider a roof rack and maybe some rear aux lights on top of it to help guide the boat on/off the trailer.

With that being said, who cares about the engineering program lol. They actually have a very decent program, and ranked very closely to other great programs.
I offered the guy a even trade and he said no... his loss I guess.
The Miami show was actually the weekend of Feb. 14th. It was a great show and a lot of new products were released. Including a 400hp Mercury and a new outboard motor with a Chevy block turned sideways putting out over 600hp. Only $100k for one installed on your boat, pocket change... The new boat was a great success at the show and was being talked about all weekend. He is up to 20 down deposits and is going to begin production on March 1st. I believe starting price is around $110,000.
I actually recently put a stock roof rack on as I didn't have one before. But I haven't really used it yet. The AUX lights on the other hand are a very good possibility. Helping a friend install some on his TJ and then we might put a set on mine.

Yea, I knew that. Too much work and the stupid cold Polar Express weather has me a little nuts.
If I can find a link to the roof rack and lights, I will post it.
Good luck to your buddy with the boats. I hope you get to put one through a real workout by summer. As long he makes a good product and has a real projected growth forecast, then it should work out for him.
No Mercs at the Charleston show except for those on Whalers. Everything else was Yamaha. No OMC to be seen. 400hp on my Whaler Newport may be far reaching.
A friend of mine's father just retired from being a dentist at 74. He wanted another boat so he bought a Yellowfin and the family will be moving to Jupiter by the end of this year. I really like the boats but a $196,000 price tag would have required me to stay in law school and then become an ambulance chaser:

Our family friend that is building the boat I posted was actually the Vice President for Yellowfin before he went out on his own. We are also fairly close with the owner of Yellowfin and have gone to a few of his parties. You could say his house his big... But a great guy and a very successful business man. The boat industry isn't easy to get into and he has definitely grown his company into something incredible. My neighbor has a 32 Yellowfin also but with 300 mercs. We have run it 60 miles offshore and it is just amazing!! I clean and wax it for him so I know the boat very well. They are going to love it!

I just have to say it... 4WD conversion :hiding:
For cheaper mods: front mud flaps, LED reverse lights, other random LEDs, plastidip the wheels again, 99+ cup holders/ center console, extra 12-volt outlets, paint the skid plates red (or other bright color), and a Thrush Welded muffler of course
Other than that, just keep it clean and don't stop taking care of it

Congrats on getting accepted to FSU. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I'm studying mechanical engineering at a smaller school and sometimes wish I had gone to a larger school. I like all the ideas but the blue gauge lights. Blue is a very harsh color on your eyes, especially at night. It can really wear them out more so than other colors. I like the roof rack and aux light idea though. I love off road lights on vehicles.

Wow Matt, that is the life. If I am able to hitch a ride on it while in Charleston I'll let you know. The dentist really was craving a Jupiter 34fs but the extra $100,000+ for it was a reach for him. Not like the Yellowfin is a bad consolation prize to begin with.

Thanks for the ideas. I was thinking about a new muffler actually. But am wondering how it will sound since I have a 2.7L.
