Woke up to leave for school this morning to find a puddle of power steering fluid under the truck. Backed the truck out of the garage to find I had lost all power steering, guess it is time to order my new rack. Knew the day was coming, just was hoping it would hold through till christmas break. Now I get to drive my mom's 2003 Sequia!

Oh no, that is no fun. Check out 1sttoyotaparts.com or camelbacktoyota.com if you are going to be staying OEM. Also plan on getting an alignment when you are done, look for a firestone (who i use) they have a lifetime alignment for about $120 if you can find a coupon or something.

Also the job should be somewhat easier because you don't have that pesky front diff to deal with! :snacker:

Also if you haven't done the LBJs yet it might be a good time to do so, you are only 4 bolts away from replacing it.

Just ordered the steering rack, went with a brand new one for $336.00. Comes with a 3 year warranty! Also just ordered a daystar 1" leveling kit for the front. Dad will know I purchased it once its on the truck already!!! :laugh:

Ahh great color dude, not to many built with our color! thats a pretty slick antenna as well, if it werent for my cbi ditch light mounts being in the way i would go that route.

What do you mean by your CBI ditch light mounts being in the way? Ive been looking into them but I wasn't sure what you would do for an antenna if it was in the way? A little insight please?

Got the old steering rack out and the new one ready to go in. Just waiting for new tie rods to come in (Thursday). Got one side of the lift done before I called it for the day. Will finish up the other side tomorrow and then put the new steering rack in on Thursday with the new tie rods, if everything goes as plans. Hopefully i'll have some pictures up on Friday!

Nice rig! Always nice to see young people that take good care of their vehicles Many people never learn that- regardless of age!

Now put the factory grill back on already and paint the horns black- it's not a Subaru

Also, you may want to do some research on open element filters on your motor. Although they make noise, and you may think you feel more power, often times the OEM airbox setup actually does better on the dyno. One thing that has always stood out to me, is that when you have an open element, you are sucking hot engine bay air instead of "outside air" that the OEM setup scoops. In general, colder air helps your engine produce "more hp".

1" lift is complete on both sides. Hoping to have steering rack done tomorrow and then I can set her down to see how she looks.

The plasti dip was starting to peel a little on the front two rims (very small amount), but since I'm OCD about stuff I pulled it all off (all four rims). So I'll be rocking the brushed silver rims again for a while. Probably will dip them again in the next month or so.

Just finished everything up! Turns like a dream now, and no leaks. Took 10 hours to replace the steering rack, tie rods, and install the lift. I know for most you that seems like forever but you are talking to a guy that never took tires off a truck till 3 days ago. Here is a quick picture, it's to dark to get a great shot. Will have a better one tomorrow for you guys.

Hey bud, the truck is looking great. Glad you got the steering rack and tie rods in, just make sure you get it aligned.

Also, is that castle nut missing the cotter pin? If so, do not drive that sucker until you put a new one in, you do not what to take the chance of that nut working its way off!!

The pin may not be in the picture, but they are back in! Have some rattling noise coming from up front, hopefully I'll get it figured out.

It looks good! How does it work, easy start-up? How did you defeat the wheel lock issue?

Just wondering... why that placement for the button?

Also, does it have different color options? It's super bright, what's it like to drive with at night? Is there a way to connect it into the stock dimmer switch?

I still need to put the key in to release the lock. The button itself was a pretty cheap unit as I really only wanted it to start the truck. I plan on doing something else for both the ACC and Ignition. The color can't be changed but they do sell them in a few other colors. It also does stay on the whole time. I placed it there for a few reasons. One is I plan on having some other switches down there. And then also since I have a manual I can simply press the button and then release the E-brake while my hand is down there.

OEM roof rack with rails and end pieces. Bought it on eBay for $80. Looks to be in great condition, just going to need a fresh paint job and a normal clean up.

Also starting to think about colors to paint/plasti dip the rims. Trying to decide if I should go back to black, keep as is, or do something different (like bronze). What do you guys think?

I like the idea of the bronze if you get rid of the chrome and silver like the wheels and bumper.

I think the silver looks better than black but if you're considering bronze or something, try using Photoshop to get an idea.

There is no chrome on the truck anymore as I blacked everything out. The bumpers are painted body color. I may try messing with photoshop a little but I am not the best. If anyone has some free time and would like to help with photoshopping in bronze rims that would be great. Thanks
