Starting issue, advice/opinons?

Well I haven't had interwebz (just got moved into my new place so I've been a little occupied) but I did get the contacts and plunger replaced and she starts likea champ!:girl: But I can say I never want to do that again, maneuvering the starter around in it's little space was a pain. The thing fought me the whole way, I just wanted to :AK47::AK47::gun6::gun6:

But it's done and all seems well for now. I think my driveshaft u-joints are going to be next, I'm getting the "clunk" when coming to a stop, and it feels like they're binding when starting to move from a stop.

I just changed my starter last week. I agree on the not fun, but it wasn't as bad as folks made it out to be. I actually got a starter from a Toyota junkyard in Denver and put new contacts in it. Now I've got my OEM Denso and gonna rebuild it and keep it as a spare.

Did any of you have a kind of delayed or labored start before the click? I got in mine Saturday morning and it would turn over once, but seemed very labored, but then after a couple of attempts it fired. Didn't drive it for a couple days, today go out and clean the battery terminals and got a couple of labored attempts, then a click or two and then a clean crank the next 6 or so times in a row.

Battery was 12.37V before starting and shows 14.2V +/- while running, so I am pretty sure the battery and alternator are good. I talked to a buddy and he said the labored part was a little strange but that the "click" was textbook contacts.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt
