Steering wheel vibration Poll

Random vibrations at 40-50 and 65-75 mph with BFG TA/KOs and Blizzaks.

Variety of different surfaces.

Nothing fixes it.

And 2 years down the line,....2015 TRD Pro -- I've had pretty much the same issue on and off since I bought it. I'm running on 275 BFG TA TKO2's just put on in the last month, fresh 4-wheel alignment,...same issue. I'd say the vehicle when driving over around 50 mph always seems to have a slight shake -- sometimes the wheel shakes a lot,..seems to be at it's worst around 60 mph. Then it will slowly go away as you drive more. Weird.

Recently noticed a slight steering wheel shimmy right at 60mph. Can't decide if I should just leave it be, or risk making it worse. It's not too concerning, but my wife mentioned it to me the other day. '17 Pro w/ 9500 miles.

Women dont notice these things. j/k. I tried asking my wife about the shimmy and she said she never noticed it as I'm driving down the freeway like I have parkinsons.

I've posted this before, but I run the same tires and had the same issues - but getting the RoadForce balancing done at Discount Tire eliminated the issue, for me. Are you doing regular balancing or specfically, RoadForce?

I've never done RoadForce balancing,...or heard of it. I'll look into to it -- thanks.

I just bought a 2018 TRD a couple of weeks ago. Both my wife and I have noticed a slight shake around 55 or so. I must say, I'm not to happy about it...

I recently bought a 2018 Off-Road Premium and i've noticed this wobble. From what i've noticed, the majority of the problems are unbalanced tires and the alignment being off.

Has anyone discovered the culprit to this problem?

I'm willing to bet 95% of the time its either tire balance issues or bent wheels. Really can't be much else. I also think that this particular platform is really sensitive to the above mentioned things.

Mind had that at speed of 55-65. Took it to toyota told me i needed front brakes. Did that and took care of that problem.

Doubt the brakes were the culprit. Did you feel steering wobble 100% of the time when brakes were applied? Not calling you a liar but i really have a hard time accepting any explanations from a dealer. They need to road force balance with a lugcentric adapter.

So far I've put on about 5K miles on some tires that were road force balanced and it seemed to do the trick but i'd randomly get a very faint wobble. Next time i'm definitely going to ask them to do a lugcentric balance along w/ roadforce at my discount tire.

I appreciate that. I'll go into the dealer tomorrow to see what they have to say about this.

My 4runner had the steering vibration from new, took it back to dealer. They aligned it, said alignment was off. Vibration fixed for now.

I had a very slight steering wheel vibration with stock tires & rims every once in a while. Not enough to cause worry but it was there. Switched to winter tires & rims (FN six shooter & blizzaks) and the whole damn truck shakes. Have been back 3 times to balance and it's still there, sure is frustrating.

I get vibration every now and again around 60mph too. Can’t really correlate it to anything yet. Done it since I got it. 10k service coming up. Not sure it’s worth mentioning.

I battled this and just recently got it fixed.

Get your wheels ROAD FORCE BALANCED. These trucks are sensitive to balance issues. Put the 2 wheels with the lowest road force #s on the front and as long as the tires are not garbage you will find this will either fix it or at very minimum get it 90% better.

Have been trying to track down a mild 60mph vibration in my TRD Pro, and it seems that the 4Runner is just super sensitive to wheels that are even a little out of spec. Having my tires road force balance and having a 4-corner alignment done took care of almost everything, but I can feel a slight shimmy at 60mph if the tires are even slightly under inflated (30psi) or over inflated (38psi), or if there is more than a couple pounds difference between the tires on the front axle. With a fresh balance and all four tires at 34-35psi, everything seems happy for now.

^Same here, pressures need to be equal.

I still get it just under 60 MPH, and its usually due to asymmetrical tire pressures. I find that my 265 70 R17 Duratrac C's mounted on Pro wheels like to be at 38-40 psi all the way around when on the road at highway speeds.

My vibration has gone away roughly 90%. However I have noticed both to and from work yesterday and today... :/. This sucks. Wish these trucks were not so sensitive. I do not want a lift yet nor do I want to spend the money however it may be my next step/only option to get rid of this. Specifically a good set of UCAs...
